I've wired up a saab hazard switch and having it working as a momentary switch like the Galant switch is. The hazards work, no problem. the problem Im running into is that I keep blowing fuses when hooking up the taillight wire and rheostat wire.

AFIK, I followed the way the Galant wire is hooked up. This is how I have it hooked up: taillight wire (green/white) -> light bulb inside hazard switch -> rheostat (black/yellow). I tried swapping it backward and forward.

Here is the diagram.

what is a rheostat and could that be why im blowing the taillight fuse? The bulb is also a bit bigger than the stock galant. Could it be drawing too much power?

i would go through and check to see if any wires are frayed or shorted out first, just a quick check if you haven't done so.. but by the sound of it, it is drawing to much power if the bulb is bigger.. A rheostat is an adjustable resistor... the more resistance you have, less current it will allow to go through.. think dimmer switch.... I would turn the rheostat to the lowest it will go, idk what way, and then try it again, if it still blows the fuse, its gotta be that the light is drawing to much power... wait. time out, are you say the bulb in the hazard switch is bigger, or you put bigger bulbs in for you hazards? if you put bigger bulbs in for your hazards in your tail lights, then i'm pretty sure you need a bigger fuse, its trying to draw more current, to light up, but the fuse isn't enough, so it just goes poof lol... hope this helps

Sorry, I guess I wasnt clear. I was trying to say the bulb in the Saab hazard switch is bigger than the Galant hazard switch.
The one in the galant looks like this. 3mm maybe?

while the Saab bulb is slightly bigger: 5mm maybe?

I went from 7.5a to to 10a 15a fuse and it blew them all once I turned my lights on.

But thanks, the rheorstat is the dimmer eh. I think I know what might be the problem. Im gonna try something else tomorrow

Let me know if you figure it out Aaron. Sounds like a short similar to that of my old Montero, it was a much simpler vehicle to wire, but when I turned lights on it would blow the fuse right away no matter what amp fuse I chose.

I found out it was a short in the license plate wires re wire that all up and it worked fine from that day on. Make sure all your wires are properly wrapped and you didnt tug and fray anything in the process.
