Hi all,

New to the forum but have viewed many times before being a member.

I am a new proud owner of a uk 2000 plate Galant Sport v6 2.5 auto.

it has very nice stock alloys at 15". I would like to increase this to 17 perhaps even higher.

Is this just a case of adding bigger alloys and tyres, or do i need to think about anything else?

I welcome all informed comments.

Thanks in advance

Sam

To use a 17" wheel you will need to a use a lower profile tire

In the US we use a 225/45/17 tire with 17" wheels

17": 225/45R17, 215/45R17 or 205/50R17 tire.
18": 225/40R18, 215/40R18 or 225/35R18 tire.
19": 225/35R19 or 215/35R19 tire.

(Based on a wheel width of 7-8")

I run 205/50R17 on a 17x7" rim for my winter tires and 225/40R18 on a 18x7.5" rim for my summer tires. Last set of tires I had was 215/40R18 on the same rim and had a slightly stretched look.

Also you need to take the offset of the wheels into consideration.
