I need to know what spring rates would be good on the stock struts and the AGX struts.

Spring Rates... ?

The difference between stock struts and the AGX is like comparing apples and, uhm, fruit salad.

The stock struts are not designed to endure any loads greater than the stock springs can handle. The rod and gas in the stock strut are engineered only for those springs, anything with a lower spring rate fill eventually bottom the rod and blow the chamber. The only springs designed to help avoid this are Eibach springs, they have a spring rate that is closest to stock because the load is spread evenly over all 4 struts but lowering the centering of the car for better handling.

AGX are well... adjustable. They ARE designed to be extremely flexible as far as load and rod travel. There is actually a 3rd chamber in the AGX that is adjustable allowing you to adjust to driving comfort and road conditions. The AGX also has a "check valve" to minimize foaming of the gases under any conditions... this is what kills stock struts.
So let's recap:

Stock Struts = Stock springs or Eibach Springs
AGX = Anything, all springs and coils for 7g Galant and 2g Eclipse non-turbo will work well.

Eibach Springs + GR-2's is the best ride for your money, no question.

I sould have been more clear on what I was asking what I need to know is what is a good spring rate for coil overs.

:? Spring rate is actually not really a factor any more unless you are building a rally car... Springs made for the Galant or the Eclipse are rated correctly for our chassis

If you really want to get into the dynamics of spring rate.. try this.

If I had to guess, considering the weight og the 7g, I would say about 600-800lbs, but I could be waaaay off.

Honestly, as much as I thought I knew about suspension... I don't know. Of course I really never considered it because when you get into spring rate, compression travel, wire diameter, closed or ground, etc., etc. it really doesnt matter unless you are doing some serious AutoX. Then taking the track into consideration moves the equation all together.

My brain is fried now, thanks
