last summer i bought some smoke transparent spray paint and smoked my tail lights. from not putting a clear coat or anything over the spray paint through washing and winter most started to slowly come off. so my dumba$$ goes and re paints them. it looks ok during the day but at night you can tell that the first time it flaked off because that part is not as dark than the rest. ha should i just wet sand it all off? or save up and buy new tail lights and clear coat them this time. or do whatever to protect from coming off again. help and tips would be great. thanks.

Depends on ur situation.

1) If you got the money, buy a new set while you work on the old ones. Once your old ones are back on, you can turn your new set into a project and then sell either one.
2) If money is a little tight or you need to be able to drive the car everyday, wet sanding and doing everything over is a better option. Cheaper that way too!

And if you don't want the gloss look, go with satin clear coat. It gives the tails a nice flat black look while still protecting it

i'm about to test out smoking tail lights...but i'm going with another option. gonna open up some oem ones through the baking method, and spray inside instead of outside. i'll let you guys know the output. learned this from one of my old co-workers that owns a honda. he didn't use a clear spray either, and it comes out looking shiny on the outside.

Something like 1000 maybe? I would be really gentle.

And use soapy water.

what would you think if i used a dsm emblem sticker and put it on one of my tail lights before re paint and when finished take it off? i've been thinkin about doin that for a while now. but haven't seen anyone do it yet so not sure how it would turn out.
