Hey guys, I'm sure you've all seen the intelliglow needles kids that you can buy, to illuminate our needles on the gauges. I'm wondering if anyone has tried just wiring up a small led and putting it behind the needle, and wiring it to the gauge cluster's illumination wiring? I might give it a shot, cuz the kit is like 70$, and I think I could achieve the same result with a 10 cent LED...

Anyone know which 2 wires are the +/- for the gauge face illumination?

the cheapest and easiest way to do that you just need cotton buds and aceton to take off the orange paint on the needle.

I did that, the needle doesn't light up, it's actually pretty hard to see at night.

You need to replace the bulbs in the gauge cluster with the LED's. thats what I did to my gauge cluster before.

2 or 3 led cluster per bulb will do the trick

Hmmm I may be buying new bulbs then haha. Although my LED idea would be cheaper. I actually do have LED bulbs, blue, not the factory ones. The numbers are hella bright but my needle doesn't light up much. IDK, maybe the ones you guys have are stronger.

Wanna sell it cheap? :D lol :P

Do you guys know which 2 wires I would need to tap?

Would a blacklight (UV) type LED light up the clear needles?

What color are they? Is it 4 of them, so one for each of our gauges?

I will need to check, like I said I never opened them. I think they are blue.

which type of LED is being used? I guess I'm asking, if I were to order myself some bulbs; what would I be looking for? Thanks.
