This is the Galant G8 Sport Edition Station Wagon i just bought. It is an 98, and this particilair edition was just sold in Germany and Austria for a short period. (Front bumper and interior is different). The "carbton fibre" center console is actually original.

Have'nt done many mods on it yet, but there will be more.

What i have done so far:

Changed from stock orange turnsignals that where tinted, to clear ones.

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1323.jpg
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1324.jpg

Also installed wind deflectors on the front side windows.
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1330.jpg
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1329.jpg

Also bought a new double din cd player, will not be installed yet though. Going to build a full sound system when things start to calm down.
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1333.jpg

Also waiting for blue leds for all of the dash and vr4 eyelids.

I will also probably lower it later with an Bilstein d6 and H&R 30mm/45mm combo.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

It is called a sport edition yes, is it the same front as the vr4? Never thought of that. It is the 2.0 litre though.

Thanks again for the nice comments :)

There been some small mods now :)

First off, here is a pic of the engine bay for those who wanted to see, nothing special there though. May be some minor mods there too soon.

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1459.jpg

Also changed the turn signal bulbs from orange ones to clear ones.

This is how it was:
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1452.jpg

Changed for these bulbs. Osram Diadem:
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1453.jpg

And here is the result:
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1454.jpg

Also mounted a RalliArt badge and painted the Mitsubishi logo black

This is how it was:
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1468.jpg

Mounting badge while waiting for the paint to dry:
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1470.jpg

The finished result:

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1473.jpg

Also painted my AutoPass chip black. This is an automatic toll booth system we have in norway, where u pay in advance. These should sit in the front window, so i wanted mine black instead of white. It does'nt show now behind the tint :)

do you have the power folding side mirrors?

No i don't, just normal folding mirrors :)

It is an 2.0 inline 4 yes, not very fast but, but a good everyday car. Especially with the gas prices that are in norway now a days :P

Some small updates:

New pioneer double din player. Don't mind the missing frame, will be a custom frame later so i don't have to cut in the interior.
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1576.jpg

USB connection in the glovebox for the new headunit

3,5 mm jack connection in the center console
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1583.jpg

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/IMG_1589.jpg

There is ofc also blue lights in the glovebox, cupholder and ashtray :O

Also mounted a open airfilter. Will be boxed in later, cause the heat shield will have little effect.

Another update:
Checked out how the new facelift grill fitted. Will look good, but i want to do something about the mitsubishi logo, cause i like the one on the pre-facelift grill better.

Also changed for winter tires. The winter rims are the original 17" the car came with. Borbet rims made just for the galant sport. But the time has taken it's toll on them, so i gave them a quick shine with some fresh paint. Need more tlc later, since they have some bad bruses.

Sweet Legnum! I've always been fond of wagons, it's a shame Mitsubishi never sold them in the US.

That 2.0L SOHC looks really similar to the 2.0L's we got in late model Lancers and Mirages.

I know the pain of owning a black car, ever thought of adding oversized rally mudflaps? They catch all that spray I noticed in that pic right after you washed it. :D

LudviG

Thanks for the nice words. Like the wagon better than the sedan myself. Everything shows on a black car yes, but imo mudflaps are nogo.

Looks good man, nice progress. I didn't realize your fog lights were different until you posted the new pix. Your garage and workbench are awesome! Super organized just like I would do mine if I had one. Apartments out here don't come with garages ;(
I actually like your stock (winter) wheels a lot, they look better on your car IMO then your summer wheels.

Ty for the comments on the garage, I actually can't fit the G in there anymore, but that is the price to pay to have a workbench :) My GF's lancer got just enough space though. The worst part about the garage is that it is very narrow, but it is better than nothing. Just made some new shelfs for even more organising.

I really like the looks of the winter wheels really good too, and think i will get them refurbished after the winter soon to come. They are stock wheels for the german sport edition, and are made by Borbet just for the Galant.

There will also come new summer wheels on next year i believe, something that looks better. I did not choose the ones i have now, they where on the car when i bought them. Looking for something dark and mean :)

Hello Ludvig.

i came over your post when i was searching about the lights in the AC Display and buttons.

What kind of lights did you put in there, and where did you get them? loved the blue lights on them.

Gona write it in norwegian aswell to make sure i got my question right, and that i'll get the answer right aswell :P

Jeg har akkurat bestilt instrument skiver, men skulle ha skifta fargene i AC displayet og knappene også, hvor kjøpte du pærene? og hvordan pærer var det? :)

The smallest ones are called t4 and the biggest ones are called t5. I believe it was t5 for the display. Bare in mind that leds with very directional light will make 2 big circles on the display instead if lighting it all evenly like a normal bulb.

You will need 2 of each type for the AC.

Last weekend i started building a soundsystem in my Galant. Thought i would share this build with you people.

Started off with removing alot of the interior to route the cables. 3 RCA wire, 90mm power cable and some smaller cables for remote, lights and other stuff that i may want to install later. Not any pics from this process sadly.

Then we started to build the box for the subwoofers:

You need the correct tools. One for drilling, one for countersinking and one to screw in the screws

The case was build from 22mm MDF, and came together as nice as it could.

The case was dresses in dark grey speaker fabric and dampened with dampening material.

Then it was time to get it in the car. It is a really snug fit, we actually had to mod the strut bar to get it in. Used a dremel and made the holes in the brackets for the strut brace a bit higher so the strut bar came further up.

The rest of the sound system is not done yet, but everything is ready to be fitted. Just need the time.

Further plans:

The the subwoofers in the box. 2 x Zachry BX-T10 (http://www.ljudia.no/Archive/ProductFiles/931284/BX-T10%20parameters.pdf)
New speakers in all the doors.

These (http://www.ultimate-sound.com/products_t3_components.html) in the front, 5,25"

These (http://www.ultimate-sound.com/products_t2_speakers.html) in the rear doors 5,25"
Rack for 3 amplifiers, condensator and fuses in the spare wheel well.

Thanks for the overwhelming words on my car. Since i bought my first G in 2000, i always wanted a G8 wagon. And now i have it :)

The only thing i wish was different is that I wish it was a VR-4. But you can't get them road legal in Norway :(

Some updates again. Dont seems like much, but took me most of the day. Sadly i just had my phone at hand when i was done.

Cut the trays under the floor in 2, put fabric on it and made the amplifier lower. This is cause it was too high to fit in the tray. Made a cutout and made a lower plate underneath for the amplifier.
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/Anlegg/IMAG0323.jpg

With the floor in place:
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/Anlegg/IMAG0324.jpg

Still have to make a rack for 2 amplifiers and other stuff in the spare wheel well:

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/Anlegg/IMAG0327.jpg
And change all the speaker.

Sound sytem:

Been ages since last update here, but this project is finally gone forward again after a long time dormant.

I made new plates for the speakers both in the front and rear, the rear ones where wrng size and the front ones did not have space for the magnet. So i made new ones of plywood (I think that is what it is called in english). Also put baffles on the rear of the speakers, just to protect them a bit more. The baffles where too long, so they would hit the window. I shortened them and used the front end as a "gasket" between the speaker and the wood.

The rear speakers, Ultimate T2 5,25"
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/Anlegg/_DSC0023.jpg

The Front speakers, Ultimate T3 5,25" component set. The tweeters got glued to the tweeter covers, since my car did not originally have speaker, and i missed the tweeter bracket. I only ordered the covers.

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/Anlegg/_DSC0027.jpg

Made a new bracket to hold both my air filter and the fuse for the sound system. Looks good in my opinion :)
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/Anlegg/_DSC0034.jpg

Hopefully i get the time to do more tomorrow, but i am also trying to figure out what is wrong with my powerwindows, changing the faceplates of the gauges and mounting UTCOM.

I also put some more hardware on the front tray. This cant be lifted anymore, so stuff i dont want to touch alot goes there.

love the canards. Fiberglass or OEM. They look OEM to me. How much you pay for them if they are OEM

They are fibreglass, made by a guy over at ClubVR4. OEM's would cost a lot guess, they are rare!

Finally found the time to do some more with the sound system. Before today the speaker ran off the head unit, and only subwoofers had amp. Now i gotten the 2 amps for the speakers in, in their own tray. I ran the power and signal cables, and hopefully i will connect the speakers to the amps later today. And then it is just the sound adjustment left, wich tend to take alot of time.

Underside of the inner tray. Not the cleanest setup, but it works. And since it is hidden i cant be arsed to make it look better

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/Anlegg/IMG_3167.jpg
With the inner tray down it looks alot better

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg142/Ludvig82/Galant%20G8%20Sport%20Edition/Anlegg/IMG_3169.jpg
With both trays down, it start to look good imo. I am hapy with the setup, and the original floor fits perfect
