Alright well lately ive been hearing a rather annoying hissing sound from the engine bay. ive pinpointed it down to the intake manifold but cant seem to find where it is coming from off the manifold. has anyone had this problem? im thinking it may be cracked but idle is still strong.

if you have the 4 cylinder, it is a common problem

throttle body flange most likely broke clean off like mine did shake the t/b

Replace the intake manifold asap or soon you will not be able to drive it. Happened to me too and what a pain in the ass to replace.

all those whos manifold broke, would you say it was vibration that did it?
its second time it happens to me in less than 3 months. gas pedal vibrates like hell from 3k rpm and up

upgrade to an 03 outlander mani, with a v6 tb.

x2, that's what I use now. much better design and wont break on you.

and the v6 tb is a little bit bigger than the i4 tb so with both you get better throttle response.

Tutorials are up for both installs in the Tutorial section. If you do go this route, make sure the Outlander intake manifold is non-mivec.

edit: just realized the v6 throttle body should come with the IM if you get an Outlander Intake manifold.

I have all the parts for the swap. I'm going with the diamante 65mm tb. Hows the throttle response?

Not too much quicker, but you'll definitely notice the difference with sudden acceleration. :)

Ohh nice. I'm running headers and full cat 2.25 cat back system "magnaflow from the eclipse"

well the galant v6 tb fits but i noticed the throttle cable is on the wrong side. so if we want to use the galant v6 tb we have to do a custom throttle cable bracket and route??

i ran my throttle cable around the front and used one of the bolt sections in front for a mocked up bracket. Worked for me since the install (2007 i think)

but thats not the galant v6 tb?? is it? or is that the outlander tb?? cause the galant tb the the opposite side

??
i thought the V6 TB was on the right side as well :? Should be.
I'm running the Outlander TB, which is also the Galant v6 TB. (to my understanding, don't remember what the mm width for the opening at the tb should be)

The I4 TB is 54mm. The outlander tb is a lil bigger like 56 or 57mm "not sure". The v6 is 60mm and the diamante v6 is 65mm.
I have a question do you need the oulander support bracket? Anyone have a mitsu part number.

The v6 is 60mm and the diamante v6 is 65mm.

V6TB=65mm
Diamante TB=68mm

The outlander IM swap would be nice but expensive if you don't have the money find a place the does welding & have the cracked part welded & also the space between the TB flange & the IM itself. Just make sure the weld doesn't get in the way of the bolt holes

my 2002 galant 2.4L recently had its intake manifold replaced cause it was cracked at the flange I also had the motor mounts replaced. 6 months later it cracked again what is the main cause of this problem to prevent this from happening or is this truely a design flaw? this is really starting to take a toll on my wallet.
