Headers and Exhaust for 2002 8G

Whats up all,
I'm wondering if I can fit the RPW headers and a Bosal Prosport onto my stock piping for my exhaust. Are the sizes and measurements compatable? (I'd probably throw in an HFC too while i'm under there https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif ) Looked all over but I couldn't find any info about it. Any help would be cool...

it fits stock piping for just the header I am sure. if you want to get the flexpipe and HFC there is no welding needed. prettymuch was a direct bold on for me . you will however have to extend your O2 Sensors which is where the complications come in.

If your car is a cali spec, and you remove the precats, which you'll have to do for the headers, there's no need to get an HFC. You already have one.

the only problem with using your stock cat is that there is no flange to connect them with. you either have to add a HFC/straight pipe, our cut off your pipe right before the cat and weld.

I'm guessing that the Bosal is a pretty simple replacement for my stock muffler, right? Did anybody ever have a problem with Bosals'?

Well I seem to be the longest owner of the Bosal, so I guess I'll answer 8)

The only issue you'll have is the Bosal is a little shorter than the stock canister, so you'll need a 10" or so piece of pipe, preferably mandrel bent to extend the stock pipe to the new muffler. And the best price on the Bosal is still at olyonline.com.

And yes, there is no flange on the stock cat after you cut. But welding on a flange should be easy for a good pipe shop. So should bending that extension pipe.

And to answer your question, yes the measurements are standard enough to fit your stock pipe. 2.25 inches.

hey, ima lil lost on the whole exhast thing. I hear that ima need a full exhast system to see any horsepower gains vs. just gettin a tail pipe. What would getting this system involve(what parts, what to be done) and how much would it cost me? thanks

getting a tail pipe isn't gonna give you squat. A muffler will give you some minimal gains, headers will give you a few more. A straight pipe with all cats removed will give you a bit more with more noise. All of this information is on this board. You just need to look for it.

when you install headers and HFC's how do you get by not throwing check engine lights on? what do you do with the O2 sensors? Are the headers that are availible have spots for the O2's? im thinking about putting a whole exhaust on ym gtz, but i dont want to be screwing with stuff for the PCM.

If you search on headers, you'll find all the information you need. RPW headers come with the O2 bungs already drilled. If you need to use them you do, if not, you plug them. I had to extend my O2 sensor about 20 inches, but I've never thrown an SES light for an O2 malfunction.

occasionally i will through a SES light, peformance bank 1 and 2. keep in mind if you have a cali spec, the front o2 sensors are supposed to be behind the pre-cats. if it throughs a code just erase it. before you get the headers get a Auto-XRAY OBDII code reader.
