There is a squealing noise that occurs at low speeds as well as when coming to a stop...what could it be?

dont think its the brakes cuz i just replaced the pads

Did you use anti-squeel grease on the back of the shims?

i put anti-seize on the shoulder of the lower caliper bolt, is that what you mean?

Make sure you tightened everything properly. You should have also put some anti squeal compound between the shim and the back of the brake pad.

i didnt put the anti squeal on...oops

no try and use some anti-squeal on the back of the pads or the shims where it contacts the piston. Sometimes the piston will move or rotate a tad as it presses the pad onto the rotor and will make the brakes squeal the way yours do when slowing down at low speed.

yeah i will give that a whirl and see if it is the problem

but it does it when im not touching the brakes too, just driving at low speeds, not necessarily hitting the brakes

hmmmm... this is a long shot but have you tested the hub bearing? check the dust cover too.

have not tested the hub bearing, but i checked the dust covers and they were fine, not touching the rotor or anything

I think it's probably the bearing as mentioned above, but check for rotted bushings too. Did you grease your caliper slide pin?

i did grease the slide pin, but did not put the anti squeal on the back of the pad/shim

that would drive me crazy as hell!

what kinda pads did you install?

bsilver23

i got the wagner thermoquiet pads. could very well be the hub bearing

I dont know, none of the suggestions really add up. You would think if it was a wheel bearing it would have done it a little before doing the brake pads. Let me put my thinking cap on lol

check to see if your wheels shake when u lift the car up sounds like maybe a bearing ir the shield next to the caliper is rubbing or check the axles?

i took another video this time with the car up and i tried to shake the wheel for the bearing test, but the wheel didnt move back and forth at all. i also spun the wheel around and you can clearly hear the sound. i hope this one helps more.

WOW thats bad. Take the wheels off and double check the matal plate behind the rotors and wheel bering, get some grease on there. Also check the break pads take them off and them try to rotate the wheel bering.

after i did the 5 speed the brakes got hung and got so hot that my rotors were orange. i am thinking that the heat may have ruined the grease in the bearing thus causing the annoying squeak. i am going to try to spray some lube in the bearing behind the hub and see if that helps.

Let us know what happens

im not thinking its the hub bearing anymore. i think its gotta do with the brakes. i am going to take the caliper off and spin the wheel around and see if there is still a sound.

on another note. today i drove the car a lot and for a while there was no squeal, it was so weird lol so quiet. another thing to note is that it seems to be the passenger side front only.

check out the metal shims (?) that hold the pad on the caliper bracket and make sure its not slightly touching the rotor.

the squeal was coming from the axle on the passenger side. it was from the bracket that goes in between the half shaft and the part that goes in the trans. i sprayed the bracket with some lube and now its all silent

my wheels made the same sound after i had a brake job done with new rotors and pads and it was the dust cover. it only did it when i had the wheel on the car. dust cover felt fine seemd fine so i put cardboard between the rotor and cover and sound went away. i figured it was a majical midget fucking with me so i took my enchanted hammer to the cursed dust cover and smited the sound away.....a few dents later no more sound.....but that may not be your issue

ah well you posted that while i was typing....im glad you got it solved and it wasnt that pesky majical midget............
