mine sucks, maybe 10 feet at the most. Sometimes the trunk wont open standing right by it, I have to move near the drivers door. I mentioned it to the dealer asking if that is normal and they pretty much said bla bla bla(we dont want to take care of it)

lol I used to work at a subaru/suzuki dealership and people complained about how crap the suzuki remote range is and the dealers did the same thing. talk crap and try and get the person to leave.

^^ Lol this is true.

The OEM remote, gets me maybe 20-30 ft the most. This old Aftermarket Shelby alarm that i have is still in pretty good condition. I park my G on the fourth floor of the parking garage. I can start my car while walking out of the office building into the parking garage.

I can control my car even I'm out of the country :) I can lock/unlock doors, engine start/stop engine, open trunk, open/close windows, car temp, check location, check speed, arm and disarm the alarm. I can add more if I want to like on/off your radio, fold/unfold side mirrors etc.....

Mines suck too! I was thinking on getting a remote starter put on...these winters in Jerz are killers!

I guess this should fix the range issue with the stock remote entry, and i could always come outside to a warm car!

anybody recommend any brands for remote starters?

^^ Must be with his iPhone.

The others, I've heard that when the remote battery gets weak the remote range goes down. I'm not sure about this, but someone might want to try it out. Also, if you are in a shielded area or lots of obstacles that can absorb radio waves are around, you might notice that you have to walk up to the car to actually get the remote to work.

i hate when the dealer always so lazy or try to ask for more money just to fix something so simple

I've tried two remotes, the dealer gave me the well do to electronic interference bs line... Maybe its apples and oranges but my 99 Ford minivan can be parked right next to the Galant and work from pretty far away with the stock remote.

You're right about the range of our remotes anyway, it is not as good as other cars. I've seen European cars with a much better range than the Galant. Anyway, I've never really had a problem with it, since it doesn't have a remote start, I always just open the car when I'm next to it (just a convenience not a necessity). But opening the doors from inside the building is impossible.

Just got an 04 GTS that didnt come with a remote. Just a key. Is it cheaper to get an alarm with remote to unlock /lock doors or Auto starter or get a key/remote from the dealer? If so how much $usd , thanks

I remember when I was looking for the remote entry for a friend of mine, I found the one at best buy being the cheapest, $139 installed -

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Viper+-+Viper+Keyless+Entry+System+%28Basic+Install+Inclu ded%29/7729737.p?id=1140392383377&skuId=7729737&st=remote%20unlock&cp=2&lp=13

My friend's lancer, did not have the remote receiver installed and therefore was a lot more work to go to a junk yard to find a receiver and then get the Key/FOB, etc.

This should help you, the only difference is that a 9g the key needs to be on.

Damn, that's good, on a good day I got maybe 50 ft on my stock remote, on my wife's XL-7, she has a CompuStar remote start, it gets 1500ft (more than a 1/4 mile). It works too, but the range is shortened by walls and other obstructions.

Here's mine:

8g - 5 feet (yeah it sucks, maybe it needs new batteries)
caddy - about 200 feet
grand caravan - 2 miles (aftermarket, with two-way coms)
