There is alot of rules to even people who have black cars. I have a black car and due to my high millage and year I would have only got something like $300.00. It wasnt even worth trying to get the money for it. And there option to pay a percentage wouldnt even cover half.

oh really damn.they didnt tell me that they said it covered the new paint.huh this is freakin crap.i cant even go to sell my car out right to get some money cause even with good paint my car trade in is valued at $3,000 with 72k miles.I asked what is the paint warranty they say u get when buy the car and its for rust but has to be a hole .in metal.ok well i guess this wont help the case if i wont get full price to repaint.thanks for the info.

yea I'm having the same problem and its starting too piss me off. (03 silver). Not too bad....yet. I'm with you on the not having to pay for paint out of my own pocket when the materials used to paint the car are crap. My mom's 98 jeep has better paint then my car. The clear coat is fading in spots on the roof, and I just noticed to blemishes on the trunk. I researched this and found out mitsubishi knew of this problem but still used the deffective clear coat anyway, wtf? Makes me question their integrity as a manufacturer.

How is that paint holding up, what did it cost you by the way?

That's not too bad, I thought it was gonna be in the 1k neighborhood. I'm just frustrated because I could be using that money on other things for my car.

My 99 Monarch Green Pearl Galant faded on the trunk, roof and hood. Got the top half of the car painted for $1000. Now the doors are starting to go as well.

My Dover White Pearl is turning yellow n cracking in the back on the bumper. But thats probably cuz the bumper is plastic.

I've been having a problem with the black paint on my roof for two years now. about 60% of the clear-coat is gone, almost totally rusted on one side. I might see if I can sand it or touch up the roof a little bit before MOD. :(

I have a 2000 patriot pearl red and the only problems with paint are on the door mirrors. Clear coat is coming off pretty bad on them.

I have an 01 silver G and it seems alot of silver galants have unmatched rear bumpers. I also had to get mine repainted it was chipping like crazy. My hood is also starting to show oxidation but when i wax it you can barely see it.

So from hearing all this and experiencing it first hand, I would say its safe to assume our cars were painted with cheap materials, aint that a B.

That's what I fear. If I paint the needed parts (roof, trunk) that its just a matter of time before the rest of the car starts fading. I can't afford like a $2k paint job on a college budget lol.

I do wax it regularly (every 4 months). I think it has more to do with the fact that some of our cars stay outdoors 24/7 and the clear coat reacts to the UV rays and deteriorates.

I've seen plenty of dark colored cars (Blue, Green, Black) Honda Accords, Honda Civics, not just Mitsubishis with faded paint.

Isn't there a way to spray more clear coat over the currently good paint so it doesn't go bad?

You could either pay a body shop to spray a coat of clear over the existing paint or go to autozone and buy a can of clear coat and spray it yourself.
