Hey guys, I am looking for info on how to actually get my hands on a vr4 hood. I wanted one but not carbon fiber like I see fs on ebay. I would rather not have a carbon fiber style hood as everyone would hate me for painting it

So I'm done searching google for now and a quick search through the forums didn't seem to help much. Any help would be great!

When searching for the carbon fiber ones it seems they are tied with an evo style title. So Not sure if that is actually the same as the vr4 hood style or not.

the vr4 hood looks just like the factory usdm hood.

the vr4 hood looks just like the factory usdm hood.

Jay its slightly different. The two body lines down the center of the hood are a little more pronounced. That center area has a deeper drop off to the outer edges by about 4mm or so. It seems all the CF hoods are based on a JDM mold since they all hit the strut towers and have the deeper body lines in the middle.

Its true the Vr4 hood has more definition on the shape. I looks way better than the USDM

+1

I cant imagine how much it would cost to ship a real JDM hood to the US. Im guessing in the ballpark of $1000.

Keith, if you don't want to go all out for the carbon fiber, I say you call one of those companies up and see if they can just make you a fiberglass copy (should work in the same mold right?). Does anyone here have experience with the OEM-style CF hood? I wonder if that is molded from a JDM hood or not

^ yep on my old VIS I had to cutout a piece of the hood where the strut mount come in contact since USDM & JDM locations are slightly different (multilink vs. MacPherson).

Ahh alright. I wanted that sharp edge look to it lol. The hood I have now is off of ebay since I replaced it so long ago. The edges are not as visible as the jdm hoods.

Not sure if this is a custom hood or not but I really like the looks of it on this car. Anyone see this one before or have it on their car?
