Crankshaft sensor magnet? plz help me

ok heres what i did plz bear wit me. I took off the timing cover to replace a broken motor mount bracket located in the timing belt case (cover whatever in there). upon removing the timing cover i noticed small magnetic pieces loose near the crankshaft, now i found out they were from the crankshaft sensor or the disc behind the crankshaft. i also messed up the disc on the back of the crankshaft gear it bent on the edge, my question is are the magnets from the sensor or the disc, which should i replace cuz now the car wont start i thought i didnt time it right. the reason is because the crankshaft pulley (and crankshaft gear) turned but the belt and other timing components did not so i was forced to re do the timing. but now wont start and it sounds like it aint firing. any advice! i aint no mechanic but i cant afford to take it to a shop and i need my vehicle running.

Take a picture of the "magnet" that you found, take a picture of the trigger wheel so we can see how bad its bent and post the pictures up here. You can host the pictures on photobucket.com for free, just sign up.

It sounds like your going to need a new crank sensor and possibly the trigger wheel. The sensor is about $80-100 if I remember correctly and the trigger wheel is about $8. You might be able to save the old trigger wheel if its not too bad, but lets see some pics so we can give you better advice.

looks like you will need a new crank sensor. Before replacing the sensor alone, make sure the sensing wheel isn't damaged otherwise it will wreck your new sensor.

If the trigger wheel is only slightly bent, just bend it back a little, spin it, bend it again, spin it, and so on until its pretty straight. When you install the new sensor, spin the motor over my hand at the track to make sure the wheel isnt gonna hit the sensor, once its good, she should work fine.
