Hi I'm new here. I want to shere with you with my project

Plan:
- Swap from 4D68T to 4G63
- Install a turbo from EVO (don't have idea wich one first I must swap engine and than I'll thing about it)
- 4WD swap

My dad bought a 7g galant after 2 years he damaged cooling fan and after that he blow up a head cylinder... My dad parked him on a front yard and forgot about him for 3 years. 2 years ago he decided to scrap him so I decided to give him another chance and it all started

Specification:
Engine: 4D68T 2.0TD 8v, old diesel everything is mechanical 90PS, 197Nm
Transmission: 5 speed manual ( like the most of galants in europe)

My dad had a little crash with Ford Transit so he looks like this
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/4904/enginea.th.jpg (http://img16.imageshack.us/i/enginea.jpg/)

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/4486/upssma.th.jpg (http://img17.imageshack.us/i/upssma.jpg/)

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7669/frontnls.th.jpg (http://img7.imageshack.us/i/frontnls.jpg/)

http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4318/73285700.th.jpg (http://img19.imageshack.us/i/73285700.jpg/)

I bought head cylinder from Mitsubishi Space Wagon and a new coolin fan.
I needed to do something with brakes because eveything fall in to rust after 3 years
So I started regeneration

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6376/hamulce2.th.jpg (http://img156.imageshack.us/i/hamulce2.jpg/)

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6427/img0137g.th.jpg (http://img24.imageshack.us/i/img0137g.jpg/)

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/9754/img0140rt.th.jpg (http://img21.imageshack.us/i/img0140rt.jpg/)

http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/3721/brake.th.jpg (http://img689.imageshack.us/i/brake.jpg/)

next step was war with rust
All front of the car was full of holes, thresholds where rotted from half of front door to the end

Fixing this things took 2 months

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/6689/blach1.th.jpg (http://img14.imageshack.us/i/blach1.jpg/)

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/3051/blach.th.jpg (http://img138.imageshack.us/i/blach.jpg/)

And I installed new front bumper from V6 model with a little lip

http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/7048/img0884a.th.jpg (http://img651.imageshack.us/i/img0884a.jpg/)

After 2 months he looked like this

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/6233/gal6.th.jpg (http://img683.imageshack.us/i/gal6.jpg/)

http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/2079/gal4r.th.jpg (http://img121.imageshack.us/i/gal4r.jpg/)

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/60/gal1i.th.jpg (http://img683.imageshack.us/i/gal1i.jpg/)

And than i started to think what to do with engine he got low compression and cylinders are almost eliptic so I decided about swap there where a lot of options 3.0 V6 24v from a Mitsubishi Sigma in US called Magna, a 2.5 V6 from 7generation Galant (E88A) or 2.0 4G63 from 1g Eclipse ( 4G63T is unable to find in Poland in good condition)
I decided to swap for 4G63 6 bolt and install a turbo to him now I'm looking for one.

This is my 4D68T

hehe in Poland you can buy a diesel 7g for hmmm... 900dolars? heh
14sek from 0 to 60
And it's no tunable you can do what you want with it and it will never reach 100HP heh

It's pure JDM model in my country you can find also this versions:
1.8 4 cylinder 113HP (E52A)
2.0 4 cylinder 132HP (it's 4G63 SOHC) (E55A)
2.0 V6 150HP (E54A)
2.5 V6 170HP 4x4 4ws non-turbo (E88A)
and some time's are your 2.4 4 cylinder US version

2.0 V6 Twin Turbo VR4 <-- there is probably no such a car in whole my coutry it's like myth for as

I saw that a most of 7g on this forum is US version with 4G64 or legendary for my VR4

This diesel is old construction from older galants in 6 generation this engine was 1.8 non turbo in 7g is 2.0 turbo and in 8generation it's allso 2.0 turbo diesel

You don't need to convert it to bio this engine will go on everything

Ohh and I got another interesting info my car is 1992 year heh the JDM Galant were in production from dicember 92 to latte 96

There is still a lot of work to do.. I need to do something with that floor and a next thing is engine swap to 6g galant GTI engine (4G63 non turbo 6bolt) I'll be probably first owner of 7g galant with 4G63 DOHC engine in central europe.

If there is any questions about JDM Galants I can try to hellp

I must say you people got in US version beautiful taillights

In my model if you look closer you see that we don't have brake ligts on the trunk we got fog lights in there...
http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/2641/1238630651.th.jpg (http://img545.imageshack.us/i/1238630651.jpg/)

I'm thinking about change to US version taillights and install a fog light in rear bumper

allrice4g64 that's true if you don't push it to much it will ride for ages... there nothing that can broke up in this engine it's a simple construction there is no throttle body, no electic, ECU is only for glow plugs, injection pump is on timing belt...

haha i'm glad you think we have beautiful tailights. personally i always thought they were OK....but nothing compares to JDM tails (see my sig pic)

if you want I have a full set of USDM taillights that i would sell for cheap; i want to get rid of them. only thing is they are niteshaded:

Hi!

I had a lot of problems with 4G63 engine and 4D68T tranny setup

the starter did not reach the flywheel I was trying to find bigger 6 bolt flywheel but I did not find anything so I decided to drill the tranny starter holes

It was a lot of work but now everything fits perfectly now I'm trying to start the engine
today it started for about 3 sek on a fuel sprayed in to the intake so probably something is wrong with fuel system... (fuel pump is ok) tomorrow I'll try to look how injectors work

oakrdrs187 It was about a diesel in galant?
I can tell you that is not a good engine :)
The most of 4D68T after 150k miles have problems with compression

Engine don't like to go higher then 3000 rpm because they like to blow the headgasket if you ride like that for long time ( when you go 80mph on 5gear you got 3000rpm )

Good engine for an old man :)

It's nothing like your american diesel cars :) I know american cars with diesel engines are allmost indestructible :) But this little JDM diesel is not like them so I decided to go for 4G63 swap :)

Sorry for my English :)

I <3 turbo diesel powered cars.

No idea diesels were ever offered in 7Gs and 8Gs. Too bad they're weak by what info you're going on.

I know the diesel German cars (usually the MKIV Golfs and Jettas...or Bora for you Euros. ;) ) are a hoot to drive, and live forever.

as far as your starter issue, you have to make sure you have the correct starter and flywheel combination. FWD flywheel is a little larger than the AWD flywheel, but both will bolt up to the crank on your engine.

Also FWD starter will have shorter teeth than the AWD starter. soo make sure if your car is FWD you have both FWD starter and flywheel

FWD = front wheel Drive
AWD = All wheel Drive

Also, if you are using the same tranny as the 4d68t, the gear ratios will probably be the same for the 4g63. Meaning, when you get to 80, your engine will still be revving 3000k. I would suggest if you are going for power and speed go with a tranny originally matched up with a performance 4g63. Here in the US. we have Eclipses that have 4g63t's and they have different gear ratios than the Galant with 4g64's. 64's have a larger first gear, than the eclipse turbo's. Mainly so the Eclipses could spool the turbo sooner. I opted to go with the Galant 5spd. Hope this makes sense.

Wszyc

I got FWD flywheel, and FWD starter but have 6bolt from 6g galant GTi and 7g 4D68T tranny mayby something is different from petrol 7g tranny one thing was different: I read that the E56A, E55A engine mount will fit to 4G63 DOHC but it was to short.. But lucky to me diesel engine mount fits perfectly... diesel tranny is also bigger than AWD tranny so mayby there is more things we don't know...

About gear ratios: I know I want to make my 7g AWD so this tranny is here not for long
but first thing to do will be add a turbo to my 4G63 N/A... I know I know it's a lot of money problably more than 4G63T cost but it's really hard to find 4G63T in my country

hmm... problems with fuel no smoke from exhaust = no fuel in cylinders, fuel pump is working, injectors have signal from ECU so something is wrong with injectors -_-' but first time in my life I see that all 4 injectors die in the same time -_-'

youre trying to start a 63 w/o a MAF sensor. Its kind of hard to do with a cold engine.

What ECu are you using? I see you have an 1g Cam sensor, there might be a spark/fuel problem.

My car was doing the same because of the 1g cam sensor. i had to reverse the firing order of the injectors and the firing order of the coil

Wszyc

I have 1989 4G63 6-bolt from E33A and the same ECU from the same car

if you used the same year harness and ECU then you should be fine. Hook up the MAf sensor and give it a try.

BTW, was the harness plug and play to the under dash harness or you had to rewire alot.

Wszyc
08-06-2011, 11:25 AM
4D68T Diesel engine don't have ECU (only EGR & Glow plugs computer ) so I don't even try to plug in to under dash harness
I only made a few wires to fuel pump, power source for MFI Reley and ECU

All engine with harness and other stuff is from the same car I got it from my friend and a year ago the engine was still in car and running.. He want to swap it for his E38A (2.0 4G63 SOHC 118HP 4x4 )

I finally found a 4G63T 6 bolt its from Mitsubishi Eclipse 1g GST and I found a whole drivetrain from Galant E75A ( 2.0 4G63 SOHC 136HP 4x4 it's rare as hell maybe it's was one of the last in central europe ) so I'll try to swap AWD drivetrain in to my 7G :) eclipsh and mko projects inspired my to this crazy thing :D

I forgot to say something more about what happened with my 4G63 N/A swap sorry for that!

I had problems with 4G63 because previous owner of that engine was trying to install LPG in it on his own and he messed up injectors wiring and injectors was fireing in wrong order I fixed it up and it finally started! but not for long affter few second engine died because of wrong timing everything was on the marks but I still needed to set correct timing using strobe light... but I did not have a garage and I had no ehxaust so engine was damn laud. I fired it up on my neighborhood to set the timing but It's was to laud and someone called the police and I needed to stop hehe after a few months I finally found a garage for my G and here we go :) now I need to weld those holes in chassis and paint the whole car :) 4G63T is waiting in pieces in big bucket full of oil :)

Sorry for my English I try my best :)
