my OE axles shit on my a while back and i got a set of axles from advanced for 70 a piece and mine at least have a lifetime replacement and when 1 went recently i got a new one for free. save some money now, there are certain parts to go OEM on and some parts you dont have 2

It really depends on what you want to do. In the past I have gotten the reman ones from advanced w/ the lifetime warranty, and ended up getting my monies worth like twice. A lifetime warranty goes a long way on parts that are designed to wear out. I say go to your parts store.

If you buying the cardone one make sure its a Cardone Select axle. They are not Reman but brand new. The quality one are Reman, i can look up the right part numbers for you if you like

the only axle that is different for the swap is the intermediate shaft.

define intermediate:

intermediate shaft is the driveshaft that comes out of the transmission on the passenger side. There is a bracket on it that bolts to the rear of the engine block. You will not find it at your typical auto parts store. Your best bet is a junkyard or a parts car.

so the bracket that is on the eclipse axle is different from the bracket on the galant axle?

M-Rod

bracket is the same. The difference is in length from the bracket to the transmission. Since the M/T is smaller than the A/T, the V6 M/T intermediate shaft is a little bit longer.

thats what i was thinking but somehow unconvinced myself.....my thought process was to take the bracket off of my 8G's axle and purchace a complete axle for a manual eclipse and put the bracket on the new axle

This. (btw OP, you never specifically stated in your original post that you're talking about the 5 speed swap :P)

So since I'm bored, and there seems to be a lot of confusion about this, it's time to show off my MSPaint skills.

A lot of places don't sell that when they sell "drive shafts." You would pretty much have to ask them specifically, because I have heard of some people being able to get it new/remanufactured as opposed to just from a JY.

Advance only sells brand new axles I'd but those parts locally cuz you'll never no if its defective n would have to replace it again. IMO

i called advanced and autozone neither of them sell the intermediate shaft solo and they both said that the axles they sell do not specifically say for manuall or auto. they are assuming that they do not come with the intermediate shaft since itrequires different lenghts for the two transmission types .

www.car-part.com is your friend. I had to do a lot or searching to find the right part.

If you do find something, CALL the company, and verify word for word that it is the intermediate shaft from a MANUAL car. I don't care what they say.. They're going to tell you that the part numbers are the same, but the part is actually physically different. One of them almost sold me one even after I asked that it was for the M/T. I then verified again right before he put the order through and he said "well it's from an automatic but it's the same". Canceled that order right away lol.

what section did you look under cause i dont see intermediate shaft on their list and does it matter if the manual intermediate is from a I4 when i have a v6

beam514

I believe I just looked under "Axle shaft" or something and called the companies to see if I could get just the intermediate shaft. It must be from the V6 M/T

The right side axle should come with the intermediate shaft.

From where? I believe I checked online and a lot of the places only included the driveshaft, not the intermediate shaft.
