changing ss oem guage to vr4 optitron guages

Hi masters,

need your sound advise:

-I have a 2.0 4g63na sohc with an analogue guage panel

-I just got the vr4 optitron guage

-I fitted it yesterday and the guage went in perfectly into the 3 harness plugs of the oem

good news- the temp,fuel,odometer,tach,left/right hazzard, hi beam, oil,engine and fog light signal works...

bad news- the optitron and instrumentation lighting doesnt....

hope you can help me out... is there something that I need to change on the harness in order for the light to work?

I like that cluster, but you might have better luck with this info on a vr4 forum, as most of the galants here are USDM.

did you plug the rheostat (dimmer harness) back in (might solve the instrument lighting issue)? also check that u didn't blow any fuses.

Yes sir, i plugged the rheostat back in but it didnt work, I placed the old guage back and it worked fine..I'm clueless sir...

I tried looking for a harness diagram so I can compare the pins but I cant seem to fiind one..

Got a guy in Norway that have bought almost the same panel. He bought the EU spec one that goes to 220km or 240km like mine.
The problem with the light is that u need new wires behind. Its totaly diffrent than the regular one and its not regular light bulbs behind it.

how were you able to make the optitron and instrumentation lighting work?

you need to move 2 pins.. and link the +12v to another as that gauge requires 2x +12v supply..

I think you'll also need to put in the whole dash and associated wiring harness.. not sure.. why not do it and be the first.. :)
