Are the 2G struts shorter than the 7G?

no, the springs are. the only difference is where the spring sits on the shock. Spring seat, or spring bed, whatever you wanna call it. For 7g it is much wider and thats why the 2g lowering springs dont fit very well.

Ok. I notice the 95-99 Avenger is base off the Galant platform. Looking to replace some blown front struts/springs from either the Avenger or Eclipse and wondering if they will raise or lower the car.

Actually replace my fronts with some OE Avenger V6 struts. From top to bottom, the Avenger strut assemble is roughly 1/2 inch shorter and ride is a bit stiffer.

So you don't need to separate and swap the bearing plate? Its a direct bolt on? How do like it in the hard corners? and is there noticeably less dive?

direct bolt on. less dives. somewhat of a smoother ride but I have to put transverse motor mount inserts(stock is getting too soft/worn) in for a ride, the driver side mount was shot. Going to replace the rear with the Avenger ones in the spring. I'll post photos of the struts later.

I like the idea of the stiffer springs but not really into lowering for what I do. I guess I will think long and hard about this one. I love to read about interchangeable parts especially when it's the same person installing and writing about it.

one thing i forgot to do is the before and after height measurements, but u can see that the avenger v6 springs are more tightly coiled compare to the 7G.
