It's probably not worth buying the OEM aux input. It's like $130 online and it's not an easy install. You're probably better off getting an FM transmitter. I had a wired in mine for a while until I got a head unit. Install is simple. Get a Scosche or Metra. Both are really major in this aftermarket arena. You could get a wireless fm transmitter but you get static interference and the volume is pretty low.

I did A LOT of research on this about 1 1/2 years ago. I didn't want to go the fm transmitter route but that was all I could for my 9g. That is until I got a head unit.

Yea i ended up buying an FM transmitter. It is pretty cool but it kills the bass a bit.

Yeah sound kind of sucks, especially bass. Unfortunately, Mitsu is lame and didn't make the aux input standard until the '10 models. For us pre-2010 9Gs, the only option is new headunit, super expensive oem aux with ridiculous install or fm transmitter
