Hi all,

I have a question regarding the timing belt. When is it necessary to change it. Like after how many K do i change it. I currently have a JDM 2003 Galant with the 4G63 I4 engine. It has 140 000 km on it. I just dont want to end up with a disaster.

Thanks guys.

should be changed between 70-100 thousand miles depending on driving conditions and lead foot abuse.

86,992.18 miles (140,000 kilometres) so if you drive like a granny and not to ofetn then your good. if you speed demon your way to go get milk and drive every day then your due for a change.

I have 86,000 miles on mine and i drive like im being chased by the cops, just changed my timing, my old belt was in good condition coulda lasted to 100k but didnt want to risk it since i swapped to manual. plus the owner that had car before me was a doctor and drove a lot but very slow so that also helped.

MITSUBISHI suggests changing it every 60,000 miles (100,000 Km). my car has 135,000 miles and the timing belt has been changed twice.

Reelax is right, 60K is the recommended interval for the timing belt. I bought mine with 90K on it, and changed the timing belt right away. Changed it again at 150K. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
