I was just wondering how hard it would be to install the reverse indiglo gauges on my 95? I was looking at them on ebay and it said that proffesionnal installation is highly recommended... I also read some previous posts and it says to connect the wires to the dimmer switch but my dimmer switch isnt working, would it stilll work if i connected the gauges to it?

The install is easy if you are comfortable messing with your gauge cluster. You can use this tutorial as a guide if you choose to do it yourself: EL Gauges Install ('https://thegalantcenter2.com/tutorials/gauges/how_to.htm')
That install is nearly identical to the 7g, the small diferences you should be able to figure out on your own.

I would test that dimmer switch to see if you can find the problem because it could be as simple as the harness not being in all the way. But never-the-less you can still wire the gauges to you actual headlight switch via the steering wheel column.

Do not connect your indiglos to your dimmer. It can damage them since the unit won't receive full power. I ran mine off the parking lights instead.

You didn't connect them to the GREEN wire? That wire has constant power to the switch, the black return wire is the one that is actually dimmed by the switch.

NYCtrini or anyone else who has installed these before:
Is there any other way to hold the new gauges down so that the needles dont get stuck other than crazy glue? thanks

Strong double sided tape, but even that would fuck up ur oem, Krazy glue is the easier way to go and it can be removed with a heat gun

ok, i guess i'll go with the krazy glue cus the needles keep getting stuck. thanks guys

ok i krazy glued them down and the speedometer, odemeter, and the temp one works fine.. BUT.. the gas one doesnt seem to be working.. now i had about 3/4 to a full tank before i installed them and the needle was somewhere in-between the two marks but when i installed the gauges i moved it to about halfway so it would slide in better. I put the gauge cluster back and went for a ride but the needle is still on the 1/2 way mark and i looked twice and the gauge doesnt seem to be keeping it from moving.do i have to put it back exactly where it was, shouldnt it go back by itself??.. any ideas?

Go fill up your gas tank and then put your needle on F. That should probably take care of it.

QnzMostWanted
03-31-2003, 05:05 PM
that MAY not work...I had to remove my OEM gas one for the gauge to work properly......i'm still 1/8 of a tank off tho

Nyr0283
03-31-2003, 09:14 PM
ok i'll try what BEAST said first... if that dont work, i guess the OEM gauge is coming off

wait im confused i just got my reverse el today... am i suppose to plug red to green and black to black???

Nyr0283
04-01-2003, 03:46 PM
yup, red (positive) goes to the green wire on the dimmer switch, and black (negative) goes to black wire.

ok well i took off the indiglo gauge (the gas one) and when i turn on the car it goes to 1/4 tank. I know i definetly have more than that cus i just filled up on saturday and i only drove to school and work 2 times.. and usually it'll last at least a week and a half. I pushed the needle back up to full but it just keeps going back down to 1/4... any ideas?

laxattack2001
04-02-2003, 02:45 PM
pull it out then re-place it i had the same prob.

Nyr0283
04-02-2003, 02:49 PM
alright.. i'll give it a shot

Nyr0283
04-02-2003, 03:06 PM
didnt work.. still going back down to 1/4

QnzMostWanted
04-02-2003, 10:14 PM
ok where its at 1/4 is ur cars F mark, turn the car off, pull needle off completely, put it on F and push all the way down and then u should be there....also to check if its right, after the needle is on glide it down to E and start teh car, it should build up to F

Nyr0283
04-03-2003, 07:39 AM
yea thats what laxattack said to do but i didnt pull the needle off all the way.. it popped up a little but it wouldnt come out all they way.. am i suppose to force it out or should it just come out with a little pull?

QnzMostWanted
04-03-2003, 08:14 AM

okay i couldnt work on it the day be for, but im working on it as of right now... where did you guys glue it i glued it a little bit at each corner but that didnt work kuz none of my gauges worked do i just glue it every where all my needle dont work so far???

QnzMostWanted
04-03-2003, 09:30 PM
I grinded the centers a little, Glued right near the cneter....pulled the needles out a little and i was good to go

Nyr0283
04-03-2003, 09:33 PM
ok heres what i did.. i dunno how long it'll stick for but we'll have to see... i took the new gauges and put scotch tape on the back arounnd the hole for hte needle.. i then took some scotch tape and did the same on the old gauges except on the front side instead of the back.. then i took crazy glue and put it all over the tape and put the two together. I did this so i wouldnt ruin the old gauges just in case i want to take the indiglos out someday. but if you dont want to do this all you gotta do is put some krazy glue more towards the middle cus the old gauges are sort of curved so the middle has to be glued down to the old one so that the needle can move freely

wow looks great thanks for the help https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ... hey by the way i noticed as i was driving at night that the lights for the ac/heater knob, fan speed knob and the other were not lighted up... did this have anything to do with the green and black wires that i cut???

laxattack2001
04-04-2003, 04:52 AM
u cut them??
all you needed to do was tap into the power not cut it

QnzMostWanted
04-04-2003, 09:28 AM
