You want mods for the 9G? Here's a good one...

A conversion to all wheel drive for the DB/FWD platform.

A lot of previous mitsi model bits just bolt in, or bolt in with light machining.

I posted this before, but in the wrong place so here it is again.

That...will be an engineering job cause i don't have a clue if the steering geometry would be affected.

We pulled apart the AWD hubs from the AWD and compared to the 380 rears and surprise surprise surprise.
They are interchangeable! All I have to do is get some basic machining done, relocate the ABS sensor ring and fabricate an adapter to bolt the rear diff in and presto! She'll pop the driveshafts straight in with a hole through the hub...
No suspension or chassis modifications , no brake work needed....even handbrake stays stock.
The 10mm shorter track will be taken up by driveshaft splines....
It's too good to be true....so many potential headaches averted..!
See attached pics...the AWD hub is almost a perfect fit (will just require a thin shim)
The longer I plug at this little project the more I am convinced that Mitsi had planned an AWD 380 right from the floor pan design...
These photos are of the drivers' side rear 380 wheel hub and the 380 hub next to each other on the 380 rear axle arm.
Note no hole through hub for the driveshaft spline ...cause in a 380 it's not driven ...lol
The AWD magna/Diamante uses the ABS sensor on the driveshafts whereas the 380 uses it on the HUB...
hopefully it is just a press fit and will move to the AWD hub without any drama....maybe just some heat and a love tap.

Somethings missing.....lol
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/5261/rearaxleandtankremoved.jpg (http://img3.imageshack.us/i/rearaxleandtankremoved.jpg/)

Do I see an obvious hole left for a future upgrade by Mitsubishi?
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/7035/rearaxle5.jpg (http://img35.imageshack.us/i/rearaxle5.jpg/)
What the hell...I can fit any damn diff I like into this thing, as long as the final drive is correct and the driveshaft lengths are good.
Nah...easier to use the magna/diamante unit ...for now...lol

Three engineering houses involved

(a)
-the front x-member/K frame is being welded up at the moment.
-the rear axle is being drawn up then welded next month
-the rear hubs are being drilled/splined after the axle is welded

(b)
-the tail shaft mounts get welded to the under body after that
-the tail shaft gets cut/spliced/balanced April sometime...hopefully

(c)
The forged engine to power it all will be ready in two weeks...hopefully.

that's in a best case outlook.

what could possibly go...wrong? :orangesigh:

I think it would be a hell of a lot easier for us Americans to make this conversion work, all we have to do is use the Endeavor parts..... our only issue would be the tranny (the Endeavor uses an automatic) and the gearing, both in the tranny and rear diff, unless your making your 2.4 all wheel... then you can use the evo tranny and diff

So I have a 06 2.4l auto. Will the evo tranny bolt up to this engine?

Don't think so.
I've never seen a 4G guy do it... And I don't think the 4G69 engine was ever jn the evo?
So imma say no, unless you do lots of mods :)

That is because the 9G shares the same chassis as the Mitsubishi Endeavor (which obviously is available 4wd). So, differing from the USDM 8G and JDM 8G NOT sharing the same chassis. The Endeavor is essentially an AWD 9G Galant, which, of course is available in the US.

Good job. I also plan to do AWD. It is better to use part of the Outlender 2003-2006. He was issued with engines 4G64 and 4G69, and has an automatic transmission and mechanics. Front and rear beam, too. Nothing should be cut. You can use the ECU to control 4WD. Drive, brake discs and 4 piston calipers well as suitable. Transmission Outlender is designed for higher torque. Therefore there is possibility to install a turbo or supercharger. Left to save a little money...

Have decided to use this rear axle from Endeavour...it is also PS41 floor pan...will probably just fit straight in.

Hey, friend. Is there any news on the project?

The parts are coming in 4 seperate consignments from Chicago, Connecticut, and Carson.

The company i got them from failed to drain the oil from the differential and DHL refused to air freight it from Connecticut, so had to ship the whole lot to carson to go in a container by ship....60 days.

then the shipping company could not find a part of it cause they were moving house, but found it 2 weeks later and sent it on the next ship.

So about 30 days to go...although one of the rear axles showed up with DHL just out of the blue...

So I have one rear endeavour axle so far that cost me $500 including freight with DHL.

As soon as I fit the rear axle will post some pics...watch this space.

If i was in the US i would just transplant a pile of Endeavour bits...BUT...your steering wheel and brake master cylinder are completely wrong side for me...we are RHD in australia.

I know you are a very talented fabricator.

Try this.

Put the Endeavour rear axle in to your galant.

Put an electric motor to drive rear wheels.

I have been thinking about AWD/RWD "on demand" doing it that way, you could have the thing installed very cheaply, use Lithium batteries and they are very light too....LOL

Thank you, red! I thought about it, but I want a full drive. When I install the supercharger, I need to implement torque. I need a full drive. I consider the electric motor in the middle of the shaft. You understand, yes? If in the interval where is the pto drive shaft, install the electric motor, it will turn out Galant hybrid. Thus, for example in traffic jams, he will move on electric. Or for example budge quietly. If you need a powerful acceleration, the electric motor adds its torque for the gasoline engine.I will think about it. On my cemetery there are two hybrid. Prius and Honda.

Cemetery of cars not my business, I have a 30% stake. Many people do not want to buy new parts. The cemetery is in demand, part of the engine, transmission, axle, brake and other very quickly sold. This gives a 400% profit from the price for which bought the destroyed car. This is very profitable. The main thing that the cars must be almost new 3-4 years. Models should be popular, are not rare. Cars are purchased from insurance companies. This is profitable for the insurance company, it is beneficial to us. My main business is the logistics and cargo transportation within Russia. Tuning - this is only a hobby. In June 2011 bought a new transport. http://i079.radikal.ru/1106/07/038f38755931.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru)

The good news is as we suspected....it just bolts straight in...the floor pan is the same.

Unlucky for me the thieves that sold it to me..."Quality Auto parts"...removed the stub axles and hubs...however the frame bolts in as you can see...
