So it's about time for me to have a build thread I guess, being I've been doing alot to the G latley... So let start up at the top. I purchased her in May 07 for a school car, to drive back and forth to college. I did NOT like the looks of her at all for a while, and when I first saw the G I was like gross, the front end was ugly. I was orignally looking for a GSX or TSI, being they had the 4g63t in them, but for 6500 bucks you can't go wrong with 64k miles on her. So lets get started
First thing I did was cleared the corners, and now I regret doing it, and making projector fogs...

That was pretty much it, till October 08, when I got these babies from a member here, I think Lonestarr?
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/Before%202011/1121080947.jpg
That was it for about 9 months, I was gone, Basic Training and Techschool till Sept 09. Then I started to pick it up.. I got tired of the arm rest, it was to tall, so..
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/Before%202011/0910091935.jpg
I made my own, and yes those are golf balls lol
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/Before%202011/0917091738.jpg
and I put new carpet in to match the door panels, but it didn't match, fml.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/Before%202011/0901081812.jpg
December 09 I finished the dash to match the door panels.

Then Jan 10 hit, and I had some different plans. Been thinking about it since I joined, and then it happened. I started to collect parts for the 5 speed swap. Tranny and cai.

I also have the fender flares from cali, and I'm trying to figure out on how everybody mounted them. Do I need the rubber gasket that goes between the fender flares and the fender? I have an idea..

Thanks Exhaust power! I ordered the fabric, its called street suade, synthetic, and I had my upholstery guy glue it on.. It was about $400 just to install the fabric on the upper and lower dash, and the center console, and the fabric was about, crap I can't remember, Its about $30 a yard, and I bought 7 of each color lol.. I think I'm going to change up the interior when I get back in Jan

Thanks! p.s. I'm keeping an eye on your build... are awd eclipses common down in florida in the junk yard? Here they don't really have them, everybody revives them sadly.

Nice! I was wondering when you were finally going to make a thread. What happens on June 15th? We should try to get a meet together this year.

Thanks M-Rod, I know its about time right? June 15 is the deadline I set myself for exterior, which entails to me exterior, suspesion, handling, and braking because I will be deploying in July, and the I'm taking leave from June 1st to 24th I think, and I would like to get it done before leave so I can take some nice pics of the G in the Black Hills, and maybe Denver, and Las Vegas maybe. I would deffinently be down for a meet with all the Minn and Ill people, and I don't mind driving, so Minn would be good, never been there lol

I have a 6g74 TB that I got from Ivory8g, looks really good, just gotta figure out the wiring.
I also have a 99 I4 engine harness that I recieved from Deeznutz, using that for the speedo fix, cuz I'm an 03 and I just don't want to really t tap into the c-17 connector anymore, its rough looking, plus its got the connector for the speed sensor.
As many of you know, 99 to 01 have a different fuse box compared to 02-03, and I need to figure out what this part of the fuse box is, and what is power through these connections, so if you have a pic of a 99 fuse box cover, post it here please.

I looked at the tutorial, but is there another way to attach the steering wheel? just curious thats all, also the airbag, I havent looked at the Gs connector yet, but Im ASSuming that is not the same connector, so how do I make the air bag functionable? Or can I shall we say.

Also been looking at some EvoScan stuff. WOW, Does it just look hard? or is it as hard as it looks to data log and flash and what not? I'm thinking I'm going to go with EvoScan when I get the Evo Ecu, but I gotta figure out how to use it, whats the best way on doing that?

Galantman03

Thanks Stewi, its a work in progress kind of thing.

as for the harness, I actually got if off ebay in december 09, it was a universal harness bar, but I made sure that the width was compatible with the width of the g, there is some measurments floating around here for the 8g, not to sure about the 7g though. I can take a measurement for ya if you want

Ok also I have been reading all night long on Evoscan... can you tune with Evoscan? I cannot find a staight answer, or maybe I'm just over reading stuff. Basically I am getting an Evo 8 ecu but it has a Tephra? (sp) mod on it, and I would like to revert it back to just a stock evo 8 base map, but I have no idea on how to do it lol. I asked the guy if he could reflash the stock map, but he said since he did the evo 9 motor, harness, and ecu swap, he wouldn't be able to do it. also if you just have a stock galant, with just a 5 speed swap, do you think a stock evo 8 map would run fine the g fine no problems? Whats better besides the sd logging for the 2.0 trax cable versus the 1.3?

Ivory8g
02-16-2011, 09:18 AM
Keke ^_^

And the evo ecu you can tune with evo scan and you should download ecu flash as well. And yes evo 8 ecu is usable with the 8g. You need to wire some things and some you dont, as well as deleting the immobilizer so your g will start.

Whats the difference between evo scan and ecu flash? You can only do certain things on ecu flash that you can't do on evo scan?

And yes evo 8 ecu is usable with the 8g.
I know that, I was asking if the evo 8 BASE MAP, is on tune with our stock g ecu, just with being able to read boost

You need to wire some things and some you dont, as well as deleting the immobilizer so your g will start.

I have a pinout, so Ill be wiring up the harness myself. The problem is, I can find the evo 8 male connectors, but I can't find the female side of the evo ecu connector, which makes sense because it plugs directly into the ecu itself, what i'm trying to do it make a harness that's removable at my choosing.

So yeah.... Got this Wenesday... from Ivory8g, btw he ships fricken fast lol, probably going to get a different o2 housing
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/IMAG0217.jpg

recieved these in the mail today, evo intercooler piping with all the couplers, evo 8 ecu and rear disc conversion.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/IMAG0219.jpg

I also cut out the evo spline adapter on the steeringwheel, getting it ready to weld up.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/IMAG0220.jpg

Speaking of which, anybody know of a good leather glue? The steering wheel at the bottom is lifting up a bit, I just wanna glue it down before its too late..

Galantman03
02-19-2011, 09:27 PM
Got the new style sideskirts today. Opinions to those that have done the DOHC swap. Do you think that it would be worth it to swap over to DOHC right now on the stock bottom end block, or would it be better off to wait for a built motor and just do it then.

Galantman03
04-01-2011, 07:29 PM
So... BUMP. Got some stuff down today since its literally my first day off in 4 or 5 weeks... idk can't remeber..
primed everything except the rear bumper still working on that lol
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/IMAG0238.jpg

test fitted the turbo and have some questions concerns? problems lol. the o2 housing.... its way to fricken big, for the looks of it, it looks like one of my ac lines from the pump is going to smack dab right in the way... should I use a slim fan to gain some more room? or should I go with a different o2 housing?
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/IMAG0237.jpg

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/IMAG0239.jpg
^this is the line I'm afraid of...

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/wileyman45/IMAG0235.jpg
also are all mitsu 02 housings are the same correct?

Galantman03
04-01-2011, 08:00 PM
oh another thought, I need a turbo feed line and return line with all the fittings, I take it all turbo feed line/return adapter plates aren't the same? I've looked around, maybe not hard enough, but I can't find anything for a Precision turbo. any ideas? And I'm totally spacing out a good source to tap off for the oil feed line, I was thinking about off the oil pressure sending unit, have a T fitting off of that.

Galantman03

So I ran into a issue. I was laying everything out getting ready to do the evo pin out on the 99 harness that I have, check the engine bay one last time and something clicked. On my car 03, the a/c relay is in the little relay box, where as the 99 a/c relay harness is in the main fuse box, not the "L" relay box, so how can I save the a/c relay in the 03 car, but with a 99 engine harness? I've been going at it all day, maybe i'm over looking something? any input would be great.

Stewi
04-05-2011, 05:43 PM
why are you swapping the evo pinout to the 99' harness and not just swapping the evo pinout onto your stock harness?

Galantman03
04-06-2011, 10:16 AM
mostly the main reason is the speedo fix, cuz I know all the wiring it there for it, and the ease, this way I can do it in my room and not underneath the dash. Maybe I'm going about this all wrong, maybe I should just take out my harness, drive around with the 99 harness, and then just swap my harness back in when I finally install the evo ecu. its the price you pay for having this as a daily I guess

kylecanthurdle
04-06-2011, 07:46 PM
howd you fit the turbo with the starter? is it a different manifold or did you get it milled and put spacers in it?

Galantman03
04-07-2011, 09:48 AM
its an ebay 2g manifold.. its really close to the starter, the wastegate it about 1 finger width away with the starter shield off

kylecanthurdle
04-07-2011, 04:42 PM
i dont think that would work for me....ive got an evo 8 16g and im having trouble finding a manifold with the same mitsu flange that doesnt keep the same location for the turbo. im assuming youre running a turbo that came off an evo 7 or below or 2g?

Galantman03
04-07-2011, 05:40 PM
yep its a dsm turbo

Doing the speedo fix isnt that hard to do imma post up how i did it tonight and knock sensor. As for the fan, I would get a slim fan and put it right behind the front bumper and use it as a push. Just like the Evo's have it.

actually everything fits up now, I just had to "adjust" some ac lines, I am still going to get some fans just because... The speedo swap works? I might have a bad speed sensor, it would be tight to get it to work, cuz I really don't feel like taking out everything right now to swap harnesses. I also don't want the speedo to bounce around like Drews speedo was. Where did you get the knock sensor from?

Ok, so I decided to do a little metering. I put the meter on the beeping diode mode, so when I have contact, it makes a beep and I know its the right wire haha

My question is why on the 99 harness, do we have clear understanding where the signal comes into on the male side of c-17, but when we do the "hack" or "fix" on the 02 and 03 models, it doesn't work as it should, meaning factory. it doesn't make sense, as long as you have your ground, power and signal, in the same pins it should work. Now, I looked at the FSM and the speedo doesn't go into the PCM or ETACS ecu at all, there is a junction c-56 but it goes right through and goes into c-30 which is one of the cluster connectors.

Thanks man! I know I was really supprised on how close it looked, I was a little worried, cuz in the garage it didn't look like it match, and I had to wash the g to see if it matched. I will deff go to the paint guy that I went to for now on to match paint. When ever you get to it, just shoot me a pm

Nice work, looks really good
Thanks! Have to do a little sanding, but I was expecting since it was my first time

So what does everybody recommend for sanding the base coat? Its a little rough, and most forums on the internet say not to sand the base coat, but i would like to make it smooth before clear so i have less work involved, and take care of a little build up in a couple places

Stewi

Wetsand it with 1000 grit or finer and be sure to use a sanding block and keep the paper very wet.

a foam sanding block? spray bottle check, I should be able to hit it with clear after that correct? Meaning I don't have to dust it with base, and then hit it with clear? The sanding won't mess up the metallic flakes in the paint right?

Stewi
04-17-2011, 03:21 PM
No you shouldnt have to re-base coat it. Just remember how thin the base coat is, you shouldnt be doing much sanding. A foam sanding block is fine, any type of block will do

Thanks! I didn't realize that, all the 03's that I looked at around here all have the same bumper, infact a buddy of mine just bought a 2000 g and his has holes too, I was like, WTF? never noticed it before, and now I notice it on all the rear ass pics lol

Dude this is some awesome paint work, good job. Im also re-painting my grill and front bumper.

Galantman03
04-23-2011, 08:20 PM
^its not bad for a first timer eh? lol I was kinda nervous on spraying clear cuz of runs... but I only had one case... bummer part? Its on the grill.... oh well I'll take one run over a lot..
So I'm been reading up on sanding, and Idk if I want to do it on all of the paint... I might just do it on the body parts that really need it, the back bumper has some orange peel, as does the dolphin bumper, grill has a run... but the skirts, underspoilers, new style bumper and plate cover doesn't. So I need some inputs... should I just wet sand all of it? 1500 to 2000 and then polish it?

Galantfan88
04-23-2011, 08:30 PM
Yeah I total understand bro...when it comes down to clear-coat, you never know whats going to happen since it the last step. Well I do say for a first time...nicely done. Its all up to you on how perfect you want the paint job to be. Is it completely noticeable? Wet sanding and polishing...does it really need it? To me im not sure since your dealing with plastic parts now. Lets see what other people say bc this will also be my first time painting.lol

Galantman03
04-23-2011, 08:47 PM
Thank you. Its not too bad... its not as smooth as oem paint, but pretty dang close. The reason I kinda want to leave the front bumper alone is because orange peel is a lot stronger than sanded clear against rock chips. The side skirts and rear underspoilers are going to get covered in 3m rock chip vinyl. I'm pretty sure dealing with the paint is the same whether it be metal or plastic or fiberglass, only difference is metal is not as flexable as the plastic, which I noticed when I was rubbing everything down with wax and grease remover. Pretty sure I'm going to have to sand everything, I just don't want to re-clear it, its more of a pain setting everything up for a second time lol. Good luck on painting yours, its not that hard... just make sure everything is smooth with the primer.. oh and no pinholes either, I really hate those now

How many coats of clear did you apply? Typically you should apply between 2 and 4 coats of clear. If you only applied 2 coats, I would very lightly wetsand in steps with 1500 and 2000. If you have 3 or more coats of clear ,I would start at 1000-1200-1500-2000. When your done with the wetsanding its time for a LIGHT polish. Make sure its a compound that has a fine cut. You could save the polishing for later and do the whole car in one shot, and do a full proper detail. The clear coat you used, is it designed to by air dried or is it supposed to be baked, but you just let it air dry for a while? If its not designed to air dry, dont do anything to the clear for a few weeks as it wont "fully" cure for about 15-20 days.

Its high speed clear, takes about 16 hrs to fully cure, so right now its completely hardened, but it did dip into the 30's last night, so I'll probably drag everything out into the sun today just to make sure. I put 3 coats of clear on. So you're saying anything thats called fine cut is what I want?

So if you get a carbon fiber hood, it comes with gel coat, but do you have to clear it to keep it from fading? just curious thats all

You should still clear it, if the car spends alot of time in the sunlight the gelcoat will eventually turn yellow. I still need to clear coat all my CF parts, I have been lazy with this, but since my car spends 98% of its life in a garage (and usually not even running...LOL) I havent gotten around to clearing it yet.

In regards to the polishing. Wetsand first, that should remove all of the heavy orange peel then polish with a fine cut polishing compound. Ideally you want to polish it with a buffer and not by hand, just keep the machine moving around, keep the part wet with compound and stay away from edges since thats where the clear is the thinnest. Also like I said before, you can wetsand it all and then do a quick polish by hand it will look OK, and then wait until the parts are installed and do a full polish of the whole car, this way the whole car shines and has a nice surface finish.

Galantman03
04-30-2011, 10:30 PM
Thanks, although the hood is pretty bad, but I'm getting that fixed. For the relays, I thought you either had to use those or diodes, to have the jdm headlights operate as advertised? Meaning, when the highs are on, it cuts the fogs, leaves the lows on, and turns on high beams, right now I have it wired as USDM kinda.. lol when I switch to high beams, my lows go off, and I have VERY low light put out till the HIDs warm up. I tried to follow Reelax's thread, but maybe I'm just dumb today, cuz I can't figure it out lol

Oh wow, Didnt know you bought them back then! LOL!
You shouldve painted the flares when you painted everything else to ensure the color will be the same. When you paint parts at different times it doesnt always come out the same. Its not too late, I would paint them ASAP just to get it out of the way. That way you have a better chance of it not being a different shade of silver than the rest of the parts...

What do you mean by fix the exhaust? How it lines up? Do what I did, get a piece of SS rod and make your own rear hanger and then use a BFH to fold up the edge of the rear body behind the bumper, it will allow you to move the muffler up about 1.5" so it sits more in the cutout.

Galantman03
05-09-2011, 09:15 PM
That sounds good, but what do you mean fold up the edge of the rear body? I don't think thats getting in the way, I took of the heat shield, it was in the way. I just need to move it about an 1 1/4 inch to the right, and I was thinking about getting a piece of 1 inch square tubing, space out the hanger, tap the square tubing and mount everything back up

Stewi
05-09-2011, 10:09 PM
It looks like it needs to go to the right and up a little. I had a problem with my muffler body hitting the edge of the rear body panel, I had to BFH it up a little for additional clearance. In terms of moving to to the right, that should be as simple as bending the hangers. I have never messed with a bolt on exhaust though, I have always built it from scratch.

Hey is there a better hood latch out there besides aerocatch? and quick latch? there has got to be one where you don't have to drill through the hood...

Stewi
05-11-2011, 10:31 PM
You gotta drill through the hood no matter what. You gotta realize how flimsy these hoods are, they are only 1 layer of carbon with a thin fiberglass underside. The aerocatch pins arent hard to do, you have to just be very patient and measure 25 times and cut once. I did mine in a few hours.

Yeah, took me 3 hours to do it, 2 1/2 of which were measuring and the rest was cutting and drilling. They really are worth it, I once drove all the way to Seattle from Portland without having my hood down all the way but the hood pins were latched and not a single problem.

Galantman03

sigh.... I suppose lol but i guess drilling is better than having the hood come off on the interstate. OK so I need some help, I have never seen an outlander IM and I had a guy email me some pics and compared them to the tut pics.. they don't look the same, will it still work?

They arent easy to come by. I only found one 2003 Outlander IM (Non-MIVEC) in SoCal for sale. I drove up to the salvage yard and bought it for about $200 complete w/o fuel rail and injectors & w/ a bad IAC. It took me over a month to find that one. Everyone else was out of state & had calcified, dirty, rusted up ones, and wanted more money and it wasnt even complete. But dont give up, its well worth it when you do get it.

Ummm interesting no cable on that. It wont work bro. You would need some major mod for that to work. Like some member said try car-part.com i got mine from there. like for $120 or so. Remember 03 outlander nothing less nothing more. 04 is MIVEC, If it dont come with tb. just get a v6 galant or a diamante tb work perfect. I have the Diamante, beast on WOT

I would feed it from a sandwich adaptor or by using an EVO filter housing and feeding from the filter housing.

sandwich adapter meaning you drop the oil pan and bolt an adapter to that and run almost like an oem turbo feed?

No.

Sandwich adaptor is a ring that mounts between the oil filter and filter housing that will have a few ports for which to source pressurized oil. You can use the ports for oil pressure sensors or for turbo feed lines. No need to remove the pan.

something like this...

The 72TB is 65mm & the 74TB is 68mm i believe

M-Rod
05-24-2011, 10:54 PM
The 72 tb gasket is smaller than the 74's opening. You would want the 74's gasket in order to match the bore of the 74 tb.

ok gotta a couple questions, whats the best area to put a t in for the BOV, between the TB and manifold, on the green or yellow vac lines?

for the oil catch can, ideal installation is in between the PVC valve and mani right?

also for the breather hole on the valve cover, the evo intercooler piping doesn't have a nipple on it to run in back into the intake pipe like a CAI does, obviously cuz its turbo, so can I get a way with using just a filter on that? or do i have to put a nipple on the intake pipe suction side of the turbo? just need those things cleared up for me

Stewi
05-29-2011, 11:10 AM
Leave the PCV alone, run the breather from the valve cover to the catch can and the catch can back into the intake before the turbo. You need to put a nipple on the intake pipe suction side. You could just vent the valve cover to the catch can then vent the catch can to atmosphere. I actually need to put a PCV back on my car because my oil gets way too dirty from excess fuel since there is no crankcase vacuum when the car isnt in boost.

Galantman03
05-29-2011, 01:45 PM
ok gotta ya

Galantman03
05-29-2011, 10:40 PM
ok so this would be the correct way to hook a BOV yes? anything after the TB plate on the mani side so that way when it closes its on the vac side, in turn actuating the valve in the BOV to release the pressure on the intercooler pipe yes?

So I looked at the bottom front support of the car, where the crossmember bolts onto, and its flat on the front, but sort of dishes behind, so I got to thinking, would self tapping screws or bolts be enough to hold the intercooler? or are people just sending a bolt through and through and tightning with a nut on the other side?

Stewi
05-31-2011, 03:54 AM
Thats what I did. My intercooler is actually mounted to the back of the crash bar. I drilled two holes about 3/4" in the front of the bar all the way thru to the back, then I opened up the front holes to about 1" so I can get the a socket on an extension through there to tighten the bolt.

Galantman03
06-01-2011, 10:30 AM
Ok so I'm getting ready to hook everything up, but I got to looking at a map, and I was curious how can I make this safer, or better, because to me I don't think that that map for fuel should be that rich. Bear with me here as I have never tuned before in my life, but if I take everything slow it should be ok, but would this be decent enough for a daily driver?

Yes.

As long as you dont live in a place where its super super hot and do a lot of constant turning, you'll be fine. I havent had a cooler in 5 years. However, I do plan on adding one and putting it in a more convenient location. I know your moving it to gain access for your intercooler. Here is what I did. I removed the cooler. That vertical support bar that goes from the hood latch to the bottom of the radiator support that has the bolt going thru it on the bottom, I removed the bolt and cut that support bar flush with the top of the lower radiator support then welded the bar to the top of the lower support. Then the place where the bolt used to go it, I cut that out. Then I cut about 1/2" off the front of the lower crossmember (the one the front motor mount bolts to) it kinda sticks out further than it needs to, I cut that extra front 1/2" off and then I had enough clearance to run a 3" intercooler. If you end up using the dolphin bumper you can probably get a 3.5 or even a 4" in there.

kylecanthurdle
06-05-2011, 10:52 AM
all i did was take that bolt out and weld up the hole and that "bracket" that goes to the hood latch to the lower part of the rad support and viola, i fit a 4" intercooler in there. i did have to cut the bumper a bit but ill get over it.

Thanks for the explanation, it gets around 90 here so I stuck with it, I just just squeezed it in lol, not really there is alot of room with the right intercooler and bumper combo. At first I was going to cut the U shae at the end of the cooler where it does the 180 to go back to hoses, then I was thinking about taking it off, lol and yeah I just left it on there for peace of mind.

I gotta look for pics of the drain line. I did an oil pan for Drew a few years ago with a drain line for the turbo, I had my engine machine shop locate the drain on the pan in the right place, he actually test fit it on a 4G64 bottom end he had just built at the shop to make sure nothing hit it.

Its really not so bad to get to the ECU. you do have to unbolt the heater motor or what ever that massive thing is. But trust me...not hard to do and deff not a pain.

Galantman03

any wires connected to it? Hmmm I think that it in the Hayes manual right?

Galantfan88
06-06-2011, 11:06 PM
The only wires connected is the engine harness, but you can just disconnected that out the ECU. Hmmm I gatta find my book, but its on the passenger side behind the glove compartment and that big black motor for your heater.

Stewi
06-07-2011, 05:29 AM
Yeah. You remove the glovebox which takes literally 10 seconds. Then the large black box is the blower motor, its held in by several bolts, im pretty sure they are all 10mm. I think there is 1 wiring connector that attaches to the blower that needs to be disconnected. Once you remove the blower assembly the ECU is right back there.

^nah haven't yet, I got the gaskets from a member on here who lives in japan, they where 140 shipped. you don't really need them, but IMO you should get them, makes for a cleaner install

ok So i was told that the 74TB wiring was the same... so I went out to look at the wiring, and its not the same colors, a couple are, but some are different.
TPS
72TB 74TB
Green/Yellow stripe Green/Yellow Stripe
Brown/White Stripe Brown/Red Stripe
Black Black
Yellow/Red Stripe
IAC
72TB 74tb
Black/Yellow Stripe Black/Yellow Stripe
Brown/White Green/Red Stripe
2 Red Wires 2 Red Wires
Green/Yellow Stripe Green/Black Stripe
Red/Black Stripe Green/White Stripe

So is it safe to say that I can match like colors? But what about the ones that don't match? Also where does the extra wire on the TPS go? anywhere?

yeah for a USDM bumper that will work, JDM is much shorter so its a really tight fit

ive got the old style. u havent seen my car in a while but i was able to fit my moster IC with little issues.

So I farted around today, and fix the speedo issue, wired up the 3 gauges I have, I have only 2 hooked up though, mounted the catch can, MBC, and figured out exactly how I want the intake piping set up... to bad nobody in town can bend thin walled aluminum piping............ so its going to be cut and welded hopefully tommorrow. As far as the lower intake piping, I'm started to get irritated. If you tell a customer friday that you can do it tuesday, you better damn well do it, and not say "Well, we will try to get at it...." so tommorrow I'm going back down there to see if they did ANYTHING, all they have to do is bend a 90 in it, and weld it to my evo licp........ If they haven't done anything, I'm just going to buy the pipe from them. blah people...

haha on a good note, got my tactrix cable in today lol

Hey you think you can clear up on how to fix the speedo issue? I tried reading over that other persons post on how to fix it but for some reason I am not understanding what he is saying.

Yeah^ man. What you do is you take the blue black wire on the speedo, and hook that up to a 12v power source, I tapped into the big fat red wire on c-17. then you take the yellow/black wire and hook that to pin 3 on c-17(that wire is also black/yellow, its next to a gray wire) And then connect the ground somewhere on the tranny.. thats what I did, works like a champ. bummer part is the mileage is going on the g again lol

does anybody here have the diamante FSM? because I have search near and far high and low, and cannot find the wiring for the 6g74 iac to compare what wire goes to what... I found the TPS one club 3g but nothing on the iac

Woow thank you so much, I understand alot better now. Thanks for your time bro...Imma try it out and hopefully get it working. I know that some of the speedo wires have diff colors from what I have so starting over the week end Imma take a look at the colors and see what I can do. Thanks so much for your time bro.

06-09-2011, 11:10 PM
yeah I know some wires are different colors. I found a pinout somewhere hold on let me find it

Dont be so sure about that.

Its hard to tell which way the connector is facing in the pic so I will explain it like this. If you remove the connector and look straight into the end of it with the little notch facing up, from left to right it should look like this

power, ground, signal.

this is according to the diagrams I have which have always been accurate for me.

alright guys, need some help, I finished installing the outlander intake mani, and the evo fuel with the subaru wrx injectors. now at about 3000 rpm, its like i'm flooding the engine, doesn't wanna go anymore. now I haven't installed the evo ecu yet, as I'm not boosting the manifold yet. I just have the ICP disconnect, and I am using the aem intake hooked up to the tb. Now I was told that the wrx injectors, are plug and play, BUT could it be that the stock ecu can't understand them?

Stewi
06-10-2011, 05:43 PM
They are plug and play, but they are sending too much fuel to the engine. Did you install a FPR? You should be fine once the FPR is hooked up and the ECU is tuned. Its just too rich and thats why its happening.

Galantman03
06-10-2011, 05:58 PM
The FPR on the stock evo fuel rail is hooked up. But that was with my stock ECU, now I hooked up the evo ecu, it will turn over, but will not start. The map that I flashed to it was supposed to have the immoblizer off. but now I'm thinking its on. and for some reason ECU FLASH ISN't doing what I want it to do lol

edit: I forgot to mention, that I got my speedo to work, and now that I swapped to the outlander manifold, it doesn't work now..... ugh...

does anybody know how to save new data to the xml file. I need need to add a blobbit, but it won't let me save it in the base file... and if I don't save it in the base file then ECU flash won't bring up the new tables that I need for the immobilizer removal..

^uh, no they are all within specs. So my next question, is where can I find a definition file, for the stock ecu. what I want to do is look at a couple things, to see why it won't start with the evo ecu. I already changed the immobolizer code to FFFF which according to evom disables it. And when I crank the g, the oil light doesn't flicker anymore, before it did flicker. all i need help on is to get this sucker started with the evo ecu, then I can tune and do the rest...

I have two for a 03 ES (8089008 and 8089007). You might have to just have one written for you though, as I've found that the definitions are sometimes very specific to that one car, what with the dealer reflashes and all that.

i found the 8089008 one, but which file directory do I save it in? Can I just read the stock ecu, and then when it pulls up that there isn't a definition, can I find it through that way or is there a more specific way of doing it
I though I had everything figured out, but I guess not lol oye
I guess I'm not under standing required files to do on this link
http://www.club3g.com/forum/eclipse-performance/95395-tuning-ecu-flash.html

I guess what I'm trying to say is I can see the 03 rom file in xml on explorer, now how do i get that to run on openport?
So I think I got it, I copied the rom, went to the rommetadata folder for ecu flash, and pasted the 8089008 into in now I gotta go try it

EDIT: still isn't working. I might need on written for me

could it be that I'm trying to start the car with the evo ecu, but I still have the galant injectors in? when I put the wrx injectors with the stock ecu, it starts right up fine...

ok need some help figuring this out, not to good computer tech stuff, I need these tables
http://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/Periphery_Configuration put into my ecu flash. Now I did what is says, but I try to save it, and it won't let me, it says the file directory doesn't match... Help? All I need it for is to make sure the immob is disable.

and an update....
Been hitting the head on the garage floor all day(not really), here is the problem. G starts with stock ecu, and runs great. evo harness and evo 8 ecu. Cranks, no start. I have swaped 2 pins around, 8 and 22, from a suggestion on evom. And I even let a guy edit my rom file to remove the immob. still all it does is crank. Is it possible, that I have a bad ecu? or that being it was prior loading with a tephra mod, that it lets me change the immob, but doesn't really change it. any things helps, only have about another week left on vacation, then it'll be gone in storage.

Well, the time has come, so this was the last night I drove it, sat at a mini golf course.

And today she got stripped, clayed, waxed, buffed to a shine, 5 black ice trees put in her haha, she needs to smell good when I get back! Jacked her up of the ground, and put a car cover over her, also gave her a good amount of sedative to keep her out of trouble, also took out the battery. I feel bad for her now...
