I own an '04 Galant, and the outlet inside the arm rest is not working. I bought the car about a month ago, and the outlet has never worked. Looked through the owners manual to see what fuse it is tied to, but it only lists 1 fuse for "power outlet", but yet the Galant has 2 outlets, and the other one still works fine.

Where can I find the fuse for the outlet in the arm rest? Could the outlet itself be fried or something, and can I replace that myself?

It uses the same fuse. The outlet is burn. Take it apart and resolder the 1cm wire in the back. Supposedly should be 90degree. Or you can replace it.

Replace it myself, or take it somewhere to have it replaced? I'm not handy enough to solder anything like that.

And how do I take it apart? Unscrew it?

In the center console, lift up thebottom cover and remove to Phillip screw. Then remove the cup holder cover by prying on it.Therese 2 screw in the front and two clips on the side. Disconnect the front cig outlet connector and then lift the whole center console. Twist the backing off the rear outlet and push the outlet out.

So the outlet doesn't screw in? Because the one I bought it threaded at the bottom.

There's a backing nut that twist off.

Ok...well here is what I said....

You said to "remove the bottom cover". What exactly are you referring to? The rubber bottom liner in the arm rest? And do i essentially have the take the whole center console off just to replace the outlet inside the armrest?

Also, I bought this outlet to replace it. Will it work?

That outlet will work. You have to remove the whole center console.

Starting with the two on the outside of each side of the arm rest? I noticed that like right next to the female end of the seat belt, there is a big screw on each side. I suppose I remove those first?

No, two clip up front. Need to remove the top center console cover(cup holder) and the bottom cover inside the center console
