Hey guys! I went to a local brake service shop this morning. They examined my brakes and told i needed to change rear rotors and pads. The labor and parts will all cost $200. Is this a fair price? He also warned me not to use Duralast ones as they are dusty..

$200 sounds on the cheap side. Does this include REPLACING or just machining the rotors?

And I'd make sure he is using a decent brake pad:

Akebono
Bendix
Raybestos
Wagner
or similar.

You don't need to be an expert or mechanic to change your rotors and pads. It is fairly simple. But, $200 is a cheap price if you don't want to try yourself.

Yep..It includes the price of pads and rotors plus the replacing cost. I called him and he uses the Raybestos ones!

Yes, you could stop at your local Auto Parts store and get a toolbox for cheap. Maybe $20 to $30 just for starters. Comes with your basic sockets, wrenches, allen/hex key sets, etc.

Don't buy it from the r1concepts site. PM r1concepts through the thread here -

https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showthread.php?t=25746

He will give you better prices that way, than the site.

UPDATE!!

Installed new rotors and pads (Front - Rear) and Thx to Steve I had the front ones for a good price!

Now time to do some modding. As a college student my budget is tight sometime. What are the cheapest mods I can do on a 9G???

Out of experience, if you're on a tight budget, first get your car up to speed on maintenance. If you have more than a certain mileage, see whatever regular maintenance that you need to get done, and get that done. Once that is out of the way, put away a little money every month/pay check and then do the good quality mods, so that you are happy and they last long.

I think you right..after checking the car manual, I'm supposed to:
-Do an alignment
-Change pads and rotors (which I just did)
-Change air filter
-Change spark plug

I guess this will be my next project!
