Just like the title asks lol. The lowest I've gone is 89..was afraid to use 87. 93 is premium here in va but naturally most expensive. Just the other day though it dawned on me after like a month of owning my galant, there was a sticker that said premium fuel only. Just wondering if anyone elses had the same sticker. Was trying to figure if it was factory or placed on by an previous owner. My car is a 02 with the 3.0 v6. So I'm wondering if I have to use 93....I mean if it comes down to it I will...just any cuts on the cost of gas helps lol.

I hear you on the gas cuts. But if it says premium, use premium lol. My gas lid said the same thing so.

I just pay what I need to and cut other things. Not much else you can do. If you thing about it, 10-20 cents savings x12 gallons or whatever you use is about $1.20-$2.40

So it's really not much of a savings if you think about it. Just my thoughts.

If the owner's manual says 93 then please go 93. You can try just 1 gallon or so of 89 when your tank is empty, to see if detonation happens. Just rev high to see the engine's reaction. My guess is that detonation will definitely happen.

And I think that all stock 6G72 Galants come with the 93 sticker.

If you want to reduce the cost, you may try water/methanol injection, or just water injection if you have a hard time buying methanol. A dyno, ECU reflash, and engine carbon remover (to prevent higher compression ratio caused by carbon deposition) may also help.

91. the gas door on 8G 3.0 says "premium only". in california not many stations carry 93 but all carry 87, 89, 91. 91 is premium.

Alot of higher elevation areas have 91 for premium. When I lilved out west I never even saw 93 where I lived. Now in Wi 93 is the premium.
