well day 1, cleaned out the interior and jacked up the front to see whats going on with the transmission, turned out theres a small crack on the block causing the transmission to move away from the flywheel, so im planning on pulling the entire engine and transmission, gonna do a rebuild on the engine, gonna decide when tearing it down if im going to boost or not...might just do a NA build cuz the car will be a DD

started to remove the engine wiring harness and prep the car to have the engine pulled
all thats left is to remove the fuel line, axles and drain the oil and coolant and its ready to pull

decided not to do much today in the heat, just removed the exhaust, disconnected the AC and the PS from the engine, gotta get the axle socket tomorrow and im ready to pull the engine

Do you have the balance shafts in it or are they deleted?If you have them in it,then it could be the bearings for that.Does it do it when it is cold and go away when it is warmed up or what?

besides the loud lifter ticking, I cant seem to hear any other noise tho.

If you can describe the noise that will be good. And if you have doubts about the bearings then drain the oil and look for shavings. But unless shit is really f-ed up, which I doubt, the bearings dont make noise thru all rpms.

its not bearing noise, futher analysis with a stethoscope put the knocking noise timing belt side center of engine ONLY, sounds like its coming from something outside the engine, not in the block or the head...more like where the tensioner pulley would be for the timing belt, around that area

Did you use all new timing belt parts tensioners and everything?What about that dampener thing that always seems to fail on the galants.I believe it is on the crank or something if i remember correctly.Just an idea,besides that it sounds alright to me.

well i was able to fix the noise, it was the idler pulley on the timing belt, i replaced it with the new one, no noise, except for lifter tick and my loud ass cracked exhaust manifold......i was just frustrated...not gonna scrap it...I am however still going to build up a 63t for it now that it is running and moving on its own power, drove it around the block a few times, need to bleed the clutch again and adjust the pedal, but other than that, shes running great

just installed the 501 MAF and the car idles like a dream, I havent had a chance to post a vid since my radiator exploded and i'm waiting on a replacement

things done:

3g 501 Maf installed and ecu scaled correctly
3g ECU installed and wired up
OBD2 port and Flash port wired and installed in glove box
new motor mounts installed
new radiator fan motor installed
GL-4 gear oil changed (hoping this fixes my grinding issue)

awaiting:
MAF Adapter
Radiator

planning:
need to figure out a CAI idea for the car, the stock filter location sucks and the intake is sucking in too much warm air vs cooler air



the valve sticking problem was solved

car is 90% ready to be on the road, being insured and registered this week

Sounds like its running real smooth the the 3G MAF

yeah it is, the video has it at 1200 rpms but that was due to a cold start, once it warms up, it sits perfectly at 800 rpms
