I borrowed a few images from around the site to put this together with paintshop.

The setup is completely doable, from taillights and trunk to bumper and exhaust. I'll have to do it before I get the repaint done, at least most of it. I was supposed to repaint it in the spring, but if I am doing this I'll probably have to paint in the summer. :/

The taillights are aftermarket with amber turns.

Anyone have any opinions or suggestions?

:)

all of that has been done on member cars except those tails... what tails are those?

Looks nice and different, but I've read that these tails are for the Taiwanese Galant and dont fit without modification on our USDM trunks:
http://jdmautolights.com/images/galtail1.jpg

Link for those tails: http://jdmautolights.com/mitsubishi-galant-tail-lights-redclear-9803-p-947.html?osCsid=83baa99e13aa1e78e32e4009046c4eeb

If you can make it happen, it's gonna be nice. Good luck!

I'll order a set, and see how the fitment is, and I'll report back what I find. Thank you very much for the heads up on a fitment issue, as well as the link.

I suppose the quickest way for me to know is to get them actually in hand, making sure to find out the return policy beforehand.

I guess I'll see :P

Look at the upper left hand contour of the lights, they are different, but it looks like it's just a matter of extending the metal on the trunklid to match up with that contour, if you can shave the license plate recess you can probably do that. Glad I could help!

Edit: Looking over the pics again, looks like the bottom of the lights have a different contour as well. I'll be keeping watch, this should get interesting.

Good eye. I'm contacting the seller on the returns policy now in case things are horribly off, but I'll see how it goes. I might have to cut a couple templates then duplicate from metal and weld it and grind etc. I'll probably go to the yard and find a usdm trunk lid to play with. Do you have any suggestions, as in maybe more advanced knowledge of what the Taiwan spec galant is like, pics etc?

Wish I could help there, but I can't even find any pics of one online. Looking at the bumper, I don't think the bottom shape will stop you from installing the lights, in fact, it may not look bad at all. I'll try to find some pics of a TDM galant and post 'em up.

-The following is only internet research, do not count it if you are attempting a swap, for future references-

This is all I could find- it came from a video on youtube. I watched it and a few others
several times to come up with this mspaint thing :

I was able to guestimate that the TDM tail will probably fit in the USDM body and
that the gap is not looking extreme.

The lower section does not look from photos to change fitment, however the following picture:

http://i578.photobucket.com/albums/ss224/aetern142/TDMtails.jpg

Seems to show that the taillights sit flush, and do not stick out like the 03 usdm tails do. They seem to provide a smooth, flush fit.

I do not want to remark on this too much, as I do not have them in hand yet. I have yet to hear back from the retailer about my inquiry.

o they're the taiwanese lights... u might need the taiwanese trunk lid to go with them. i didn't recognize them from your initial rendering.

Those are some good looking taillights and they remind of the old Acura TL as well

Subscribed, I want to see where this goes. Please post detailed pics when you get them to see what fitment adjustments need to be made. Awesome stuff though.

i have dual muffler (although my tips come back to the center where he intends to put his license plate). my exhaust runs normal from the main cat to the rear axle then splits before the rear axle with one pipe going the stock direction and the other hugging the front of the spare tire well crossing over to the other side of the car. the best option is to go over the rear cross member to keep as much clearance as possible; going under makes the pipes too low and is just begging for them to perforate. the lowest part of my piping is still higher than the lowest part of the rear cross member by doing the piping this way.

here's a pic of my piping to show what i'm talking about:

That dual exhaust setup is very sharp looking, and I noted it while searching the forum.
I was not able to discern from photos, but it looks like you take very good care of the car.

I have not yet heard back from the retailer regarding my inquiry on his policy and shipment, and it has been a number of days. I will wait till Friday, and send another.

Having worked on several project builds in the past, I know how fast things can add up when spending. Being a perfectionist cost me dearly on a build where I just had to have everything spot on, down to factory bolts and nuts. It is for this reason that I am doing much more planning and taking things slow to save on costs and improve end quality.

When I can get a hold of these lights, I will do my best to take pictures and document what I find so that the information might be used by someone at a later date.

I cannot seem to get in touch with the seller of the lights... I will try again soon, but it is strange to me. I'm not sure I would do business with someone I cannot contact.
