Might end up painting it with cheap-mid materials if I make it through the winter. Thinking Black with silver metallic or purple metallic to keep the title the same.

Not too much planned for this one other than making it look better, adding intake/exhaust. Just going to make it a nice daily.

I will get back to you on that. I don't really know... I figured it was on all of them. My galant never really had a stock box lol.

That square box on the air filter is the water sperator. Basically its big enough so that when the air with alot of water comes through there, is gets thrown up and to the sides, and drains back down into another portion of the lower half of the stock airbox, while the air, goes through the filter and into the engine. The stock airbox is big on the g lol

Holy hell, that is clean...how much did you nab it for?

I got it for 1500, original price was 1800. It is clean, but the miles would keep most of us here away. I just needed a solid body to hold up against our super salty winter roads.

I saw this one a stratus in the yard today. Won't matter much after I put a cold air intake on it lol, I just need to pick up a filter somewhere.

Thanks! It's probably going to be a rather boring build.

I changed the alternator in this one already. Whose bright idea was it to put it on the bottom of the engine and needs to be taken out the top to change? lol, fixed my non charging problem anyway.

Changed the fender, painted another valve cover and put it on, added a short ram, and added a lip to the front.

$250 for headers and cat-back. Just bought it off ebay because I didn't feel like making my own bends again lol. Ebay member is like D5 something (D5concepts?) But just for your fyi.

It was made for the 3g eclipse I4, I had to extend the pipe in 2 spots (one at the cat and one at the muffler).

OOOOOOh, I see. I was aiming for freeing up some HP with my setup, but mainly going for a nice tone, and keeping interior drone to a minimum. I planned on just using an 18" glasspack, and a Magnaflow muffler in place of the stock one, and keeping the stock 2.25" pipping. Worth it? Or better off with a complete catback?

keith6110
10-29-2011, 10:17 PM
definitely get a cat-back! They are premade with the correct bends (mine was) and will be easy to add a fiberglass glasspack. The old exhaust will be all rusted up anyway and provides no benefit in keeping the same size lol.

Skyforger
10-29-2011, 10:22 PM
I could see increasing in size...but 2.25" is a decent size for an N/A four cylinder...and considering all I have is a CAI on my 8G...and that's all that will be done, would it really make that big of a difference without a tune?

keith6110
10-29-2011, 10:25 PM
no, probably just enough difference to be noticeable. But if you're messing with the exhaust, might as well do the whole thing instead of just a piece. Idk really up to you though, the cat-back is so inexpensive though.

Skyforger
10-29-2011, 10:29 PM
Well, depending on the price of the Magnaflow muffler, and labor from the Mieneke I know...maybe a cat-back will happen.

Thing is, interior drone is a deal breaker. Let me know how loud it is from the inside.

keith6110
10-29-2011, 10:34 PM

IVORY_G

Doesn't matter, it restricts back down to 2.5 at the muffler.

I thought it did because of the loss of back pressure. I remember when I put a 2.5" exhaust on my Sunbird with a 2.0L 4cyl, I lost a lot of low end torque but gained some HP on the top end.

hmm... Well I can say it feels like it has more than it did. If not, it sounds like it ;)

anyway, I hope when I put the header on, it doesn't change the sound to rasp.

Exhaust power
10-30-2011, 07:15 PM
The header is going to take away your deep tone and depending if you have a nice cat and resonator will determine how raspy it sounds. Mines needs some work after i get a better seal at the header/ cat itll probably sound better like it did before plus with a 72 TB.

It actually rides really good. This was from yesterday. I hit some huge bumps on the highway where it actually had a sign that said bump. She took it like a champ xD

It's comparable to my brothers stock gsx except a little more firm. I really love these struts/springs so far. The look is like a backwards rake still, but it's fine.

I'm convinced, gunmetal wheels fit well on any color car! Looking good homie! Unless something big happens between now and MOD, I'll still be stock height, but when I do finally drop, I probably will give these shocks/struts a whirl, and if they blow, fuck it they're cheap enough.

So far I have 0 regrets with this setup. It takes pot holes like a champ and feels really sporty. I actually have confidence around corners where before It felt like the car was just ready to roll over lol.

Nice to see the DD getting more love.

Funny you should say that too. Just put Megan headers on it, full 3in exhaust, 36in x 7in round magnaflow mid muffler. Quiet when I want it to be but roars when I hammer down. Definitely some power increase throughout the rpm range. I'll put up pics tomorrow.

Do it, man. Haha. While I got you here, you have any spare retainer clips for the JDM heads? Covers too for the back, I've yet to buy replacements for the ones I have.

lol! Had me here...

I actually do have some retainer clips. I bought a set of smashed jdm heads for cheap. One is good and the other is just not repairable lol. You'll have to let me dig them up though.

I bought a 2 bolt flange and didn't have to use it! The 2 bolt bolted to this weird 3 bolt for the eclipse gs. I was like o.O awesome.

Cut my magnaflow 7in round off the rotor glow and stuck it on this to help quiet it down for the cops. Obviously the 1g GST downpipe was NOT a direct bolt on. I had to cut a stock turbo's worth of length out of it lol:

I actually feel a nice power increase after 3krpms.. It's a decent car now lol (compared to v6).

Awesome, just let me know. I can't install the heads yet because of those missing parts.

Just saw your post lol! I thought that extra hole went to the Catalytic converter?

Timing belt skipped on the way to scranton. Funny as hell to have a TGC member pass and then give me a call to see if I needed help. I love you guys.

Got myself a tow (2 hours later wtf), could've been worse i suppose.

My Working Area was a little restricted lol!

Timing belt, holy crap! Each tooth was torn on one side, yet I was not supposed to do the timing belt for another 5k miles.

The head is pretty clean thanks to penzoil's "active agents"... 280k miles

Gave the pistons a nice shine
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z288/keith6110/Galant%20V3/IMAG0619.jpg

Each piston had 2 marks on it from the intake valves so I took all the intake valves out and replaced them with beck/arnly ones; decent quality. I've been driving it for 2 weeks now without problems at all. My local store only had a dayco timing kit, so I replaced timing components with that. Have not had great experiences with dayco in the past, so fingers crossed.
