the fsm for the 7g should be uploading here on TGC somewhere, it has the breakdown for the auto and manual transmissions

Is the 7g auto an F4A33? If so a workshop manual can be found under a posting from Prophet titled "Other Mitsubishi Service Manuals ." It has a 2g Eclipse workshop manual. This posting is found in the General Mitsubshi section on the board index. It also discusses the F5M33 which is the 5 speed that is found in the 94GS DOHC. I think it is probably identical to the F5M31 which is the 5 speed found in SOHC 7gs. Here's a link to it: https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showthread.php?t=40975

Seth,
Tried the link you provided and got "The file link that you requested is not valid." Would you happen to know if the SOHC 7g auto trans is F4A33?

FYI: A Pdf article for overhauling the F4A23 auto trans can be found at http://www.atdsm.com/pdf/atoh2.pdf

(Thanks Galanttuner10 for clarifying which trans the SOHC used.)

I have two 7g auto trans that are DOA> The first is on a 98 ES. The trans suddenly did nothing when put into reverse. It just idled like it was in park or neutral when put in reverse. Reving it up did nothing, no sense of any power getting thru to the wheels. When put into drive it operated in the limp mode.

The second trans was on a 96ES I bought as a parts car. I was told the trans was a rebuilt but it does absolutely nothing in forward or reverse gears.

Justin, I have read your auto trans thread. I like having the manual available; things like the proper order of taking it apart/putting it together, torque spec, etc are all good to have.

Go to 7g knowledge base the service manual is there. Also there is a tag in the middle of the firewall that tells the engine tranny and a couple other things

Here is the manual for the F5M3_ 5 speed trans (SOHC uses F5M31 and DOHC uses F5M33): http://www.3sx.com/faq/manuals/Service-Manual-Transmission-FWD-Mitsubishi-Manual.pdf F5M3_ starts on page 32

FYI: I should point out that for some reason they scanned the pages out of numerical order so if you are reading something and it suddenly does not follow properly on the next page, check the page numbers.
