So here is the video from last weekend at Mitsu Day at Englishtown

The car felt strong aside from the slipping clutch. The car definetly has low 11's high 10's in it with a clutch that works and once I get more seat time and learn how to drive it better.

Very nice Brian. How would you rate your driving skills? Novice amateur expert?

very nice! looks like it can't get the power down... i'm sure w/ a clutch that can handle the power the car will jump and keep pulling! still, congrats on the 12's!

I'd say somewhere between novice and amateur. Last sunday was the first time I have ever really launched an AWD car, ever. I have driven them, but never launched them, and thats only the 4th or 5th time I have ever raced on a track (street doesnt count!)

LOL It's not an M&M its the Skittle or the EvilEasterEgg. LOL

That car has 8's in it. The problem is getting the car to hold together. With 45psi of boost and a 150shot of nitrous, its hard to keep the head gasket from blowing. The car goes 9.6's without breaking a sweat.

x2! It looks like its going to rip all the tires loose then I see it go down the track kind of slow like compared to that eclipse.

Sounds like a new clutch and you'll have some nice numbers.

Seeing a G like that its just so inspirational, looks so aggressive and with everything to back it up, I would love to see peoples reaction when they hear its AWD, can't wait for videos with the proper clutch etc ;)

Tilton Twin Disc

Tilton Twin Disc

Is it really worth the 4500? The PTT twin disc hold 700 foot pounds and the pedal pressure is fine for normal driving when necessary. Not sure of the tiltons rating but that is so much, just wondering if it is truly worth it

Im not getting a Tilton Carbon/Carbon, im getting a cerametallic. The cerametallic is about $1700. The PTT is about $1500 and holds 700 ft lbs at the flywheel. The tilton holds 800. I honestly had it down to Tilton, PTT, Competition Clutch (the new version) and Exedy Triple. They are all in the same ballpark price wise, the next issue is rebuild costs. The exedy is about $900 to rebuild, the Tilton about $650, the PTT about $550, the CC about $550. I know a few guys daily driving the Tilton and they are fine with it. The Quarter Master is still lingering too, but I really want to drive cars with a few of these clutches first. The new 8 leg quartermaster looks promising.

havnt saw numbers like that in a 8G in a while great job man

Galanttuner10
10-19-2011, 10:48 PM
I never saw the cheaper tilton. I know that the PTT is very good and launches great with not much pedal increase, how about the tilton?

Stewi
10-20-2011, 08:49 AM
The tilton is the best shifting twin on the market. No lockout, very little pedal effort and holds torque well. The main problem with all the multi plate clutch setups is their lifespan on the street is about 5-8,000 miles. So every year or two I would be having to drop my tranny and spend $500-800 on a rebuild. After 2 rebuilds I'd have to drop another $500 on a flywheel.

Galanttuner10
10-20-2011, 09:07 AM
Yea I saw that. They are great clutches but almost impractical and I see many evos using them on daily drivers. My friend has to rebuild his PTT in his 1g after a year too. Too bad no single can actually hold up even when it is advertised to do so

Oh no, it had either an VIII or IX motor/drivetrain setup, shit straight up and got down the track. It surprised the hell out of alot of people in the stands when it ran.

Man you earn the TGC best car in the past 6 years! That thing is super hot! You got more money in IC piping and braided SS than i have in my whole car! HAHA! Congrats man, whenever i become rich i will have the worlds fastest 7g ;-)

LOL

Its not as much as you think and its easier done in smaller steps. I have about $450ish into the intercooler piping and another $700 into all the stainless lines, hose fittings and weld on fittings.

Kinda late with my reply but I saw your going with the Tilton. Nice choice, I recently purchased the exedy twin for the evo9. I think the twin disc clutches all perform well and will hold up to most needs.

Have you also been playing with Tire pressure on your runs? Weight mods can also get you a lower number like the removal of the back seats, and spare tire just for a run.

I've done this in the evo and have seen lower times. In any event great job, and have fun with it!

I had full interior but no spare or jack. I got some weight reduction mods coming next year. One is for me to lose a good 50lbs or so, but my car is going to get lots of chromoly suspension love in the off season.

Yep its Englishtown. Its changed A LOT. They built that place into a motorsports empire. They have a drag strip, road racing course, several dirt bike tracks and they have an area setup for go-kart racing.
