H1 HID Relay Harness Installation

I have quite a story but... long story short

A rodent spent the night in my car hood and ate some of the wiring for my right HID bulb and also broke it.

I bought new bulbs, put them in, and neither of them worked.

I took each bulb, plugged them into the ballast, and touched them directly to the battery, worked.
I don't know why they wouldn't work when plugged in, unless the rodent also ate some of my stock wiring on the right side?

My solution is putting an H4 HID relay harness (meant to type H4 in title) but I've never really worked on any of the wiring in my car.


As I understand it, a relay harness will plug into each of the HID ballasts, and connect directly to the battery via positive and negative cables. And also plugs into 1 of your stock headlight plugs.

Would that most likely fix it? If my wiring is possibly eaten out, would the HID relay harness still work properly?

Not if the stock wiring was chewed on the side you plug it into the H4 connector, just find were it got chewed and check your fuses, you don't necessarily have to get the H4 harness. But if you do you get something extra from the H4 harness that makes it worth your while, it allows you high beams to work with the low beams.

Would have been funny to what you turn on your headlights while that rat was chewing on the ballast output though! LMAO!

No I am in the Vegas area.

I have no idea where the stock wiring could have been chewed, from what I can see visually the wires look fine... That's why I'm not really sure why the new bulbs wouldn't work.
I also tried the reverse-polarity trick and that did not work either. They only turned on fine when plugged into the balast and touched to the battery.

Check your fuses then.

Where would the fuses be located?

Black box next to the batterey kinda ish. And yeah those are fuses

Thank you everyone. I will check the fuse box soon. If I can't fix it I will be contacting you, underated haha. Unfortunately I live out in Boulder City so it's about a 40 minute drive to north vegas. But if I gotta drive there to get some help then I'm down for that rather than paying a shop.

I looked in the fuse box... nothing looks wrong from looking at it. Do I have to individually pull out each fuse?

Not individually. There should be a diagram in the fuse cover or manual and it should tell you which one is the headlight fuse. Once you find said fuse, check it.

Nvm... just looks it up and I guess I'll have to pull each one out to be able to see inside it? That accounts for every single fuse in there i'm guessing?

Ok, thanks. Didn't notice the diagram right on the black case covering. I pulled out the 2 fuses, and they're both blown!

I'll replace them today. I hope to God that is the fix...

Ok bought 2 new fuses at autozone for 4 bucks, plugged em in, and FIXED!! Jeez, I make issues so hard. Shoulda just asked u guys first. Thanks for all the help everyone! Also thankfully that rodent didn't end up chewing up my stock wiring. Woot.
