But I will reveal what has been going on.

So as most of you know I swapped out the motor this summer. I got to thinking that "hey I got a spare block now what the hell why not. I am going to build a bad bitch" And so it began.

The first things I ordered were main studs and a balance shaft delete kit. Had to start small

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/Galant/IMAG0161.jpg

I dont have a picture of the main studs, but they look like a box of bolts.

Then money was tight so I didnt order anything for abit and just worked on dis-assembly.

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/IMAG0431.jpg

Then a Black Friday deal came up on extremepsi(i love that site) got my rods for 307.49 shipped to my door. They are Manley H-beams with ARP rod studs.

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/IMAG0437.jpg

Those sat around for abit while I just cleaned up the block.

I was waiting anxiously for my CD to come due. As soon as that came due I got to ordering pistons. They are Wiseco 10.5:1 1800hd, they are the big boy baddest of the bad pistons IMO. Paid 543 shipped

I have other parts on order but I wont tell till they get here. Also I will not tell you any further plans till they happen.

I got the stage 4 6 puck with the HD PP, Yes I did buy it from aimclutch. Welp really couldn't say just looking at it in the box. The dsm guys rave about this cltuch and many have had great dealings with it.

From what read though its not the disc that goes its the pressure plate as the stage 1-3 uses a oem Pressure plate and at any bigger power levels over stock they were bending fingers. If you go onto DSM tuners there are tons of reviews and somewhere there is the information I said. I just cant find it.

mrg7243
07-15-2012, 12:07 PM
My guess is that the stock 2g is probably more heavy duty and resistant to power since it makes more power stock. I think most aftermarket 2g gs-t and 3g gs/rs clutches are the same.

I went with the 2g as it was cheaper than the 3g counterpart. Also I believe it is slightly lighter. I don't mind spacing out the starter.

When I was at my swap I think it was qnzmostwanted that told me that 2g and 3g clutches are the same, the only thing that matters and would require spacing the starter and longer flywheel bolts is if you go with the 2g stock or any 2g/3g aftermarket flywheel.

Any 3g flywheel stock or aftermarket don't need the starter to be spaced. Only the 2g does. I wanna compare the 2g and 3g clutches and make sure before I buy one.

So time for another update.

First these are the best socket holders I have ever used. The sockets dont fall off like the looped metal ones. Really handy, plus they were on sale for 12.99

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/Galant/IMAG0779.jpg

So I talked to the machinst got some info and viola a box came in.

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/Galant/IMAG0794.jpg

Inside this box was some pink shit and the stuff I ordered. Trans fluid, ACL tri-metal bearings, Supertech valve seals, and thrust bearings.

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/Galant/IMAG0796.jpg

This was a nice total of $204

But the info I got from my machinist was the bearing size, my crank is cut 10/10, meaning the first step up in bearing size being .25mm since we are metric yo!!

Then I yanked the motor, it fought me tooth and nail.

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/Galant/IMAG0786.jpg

It even fought back and it hurt like a sombitch too.

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/Galant/IMAG0788.jpg

And now for some coolio pictures of random shit

Wtf. I smell discount.

Yeah I would hope his ass would.

who's doing your machine work?

The Machine Shop (that is the name of his business) It is a one man shop, and it is my buddys Dad who is the one man.

Anyways got parts in and painted the VC

Upper gasket set felpro of course

This is the same brand who makes the OEM one.

http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af322/mrg7243/Galant/IMAG0812.jpg

And painted VC

I cant decided wether to clear coat and leave it, or surface the letters and polish them. Then clear coat

That bearing isn't OEM. I think I have the same exact one iirc and now it makes noise. I have to check.

nsk makes the OEM bearing. I have the screen shots from ASA and the manufactures to prove it. But there are 2 types a plastic inner or a metal inner

Wont be all motor. Numbers I have crunched have put the compression ratio north of 11.0. So some work will need to be done to fix this, most likely shaving the pistons down. W-2 came in so hoping to buy coilovers within the month. Will be the first to have this brand adapted to the car. Fingers crossed.

u still can run boost at tht compression. but is all about timing and rich tunning and low boost. people do get scare of high compression boost. yea i know is risky but is fun and response is increible. but really hoping u figure ur setup out and reach ur specs. dont keep us in the dark. lol

New core support and mishimoto evo 5 radiator. Since there is very little aftermarket support for this car I have to adapt other model parts to it. The evo 5 radiator top outlet is 8 inches to the left which places it closer to the inlet on the head.

https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7592/17216843605_0d141b40b9_k.jpg

But it can't be just a bolt in affair. Not sure whether I am having the pegs moved or making new mounts on the core support.

Been a long couple weeks since my last post. The car has been such a huge stress. The machinist who has the bottom end keeps postponing a week. I call him every week saying the same thing.

Had me feeling like

Finished all of the ports up. Forgot to take pictures of the exhaust side.

My biggest fear of this build is that all the time and effort I am putting in there will be something dirty or dingy looking on the car. Because of that I have spent the extra bit of effort cleaning up the head to a better than new finish. The head and all the attached parts will be finished like this. Then protected in ceramic pro.

Its is very hard to see the finish because of the rough cast, but trust me its icey.

Yeap ported evo 8 10.5. Hoping for 350/350 which should be doable for now. Then change it up when I awd swap.

Couple reasons. First wanted to see if it would work, second they have a built in prop valve so I don't have to do the v6 it is the perfect bias for the brembos, third once I change some things up I can move the brake lines down the drivers side of the car making the firewall cleaner.

They aren't torqued down at all. I just ran the studs I'm and did the first couple threads. They will be fine once I set them in. Reason for studs over bolts is that I hate trying to align bolts. Easiest to slide it on a stud and run a nut down. Also I like the look of the copper nuts.

Just read updates on S/W, so had to come here and give props due to me not having an account there. Hope all goes as planned for you and h20i. Every vid I see of it makes me wanna go. Don't wanna get too off topic from your build, but is h20i just mainly cruising the strip and hitting lots or is there a show? I've always wanted go for the strip. Night life looks crazy.

Anyway, nicely done on the motor, paint, and other bits. Also the score on wheels.

Within the next week I am trying to start it up. I have a little more wiring left, mounting the IC, putting a battery in, and fluids

Been a busy couple of days. Can't seem to get shit done between school and work. Life has been 5hrs of slep, then school then work then build the racecar. Wash rinse and repeat but things are coming to an end so I am glad.

So a little incident happened. I had my friend pop the timing cover off to get a bolt that fell in there. He got the bolt out and I asked him to check around to make sure there was nothing else. Well he missed a nut which destroyed my timing on the first crank. Couple chunks and tears are all on the belt.

Everything is looking sick, especially the mirrors! Out of curiosity and I hope I don't offend, but is your air filter a temporary thing? It's just that I've heard bad stories of those type coming apart, and the middle piece being sucked through. But yeah man keep up the good work, I'm digging the updates.

I mean I'm not sure. I should probably clarify not all open tops are probably a risk like aem, injen,k&n, etc. I think the centers of those are molded in. It's the usually the ebay types with the chrome look. Like I said I don't intend to ruffle any feathers, but I've been following a guys r32 build lately on youtube who had the chrome type at first. People in the comments recommended he switch, and by next video he said he did. He was just finishing his single turbo conversion too. I think they felt like I do about this build, you like the car and hate to see something minor potentially cause something major you know what I mean?

Like I said it could be something he knows already or trusts the filter enough not to worry.
