were finishing up a 99 galant es for my friends daughter who will be 16. its sitting on stock rims and tires, 15 inch with hubcaps.

she does not like the look of a very low sidewall and for this reason we are leaning toward 16x7 vs 17x7

she complains that the cars she has been in with low profile tires are too ruff riding

we dont want to have to roll any wheel wells

none of us like the look of the tires that are far too skinny for the rims

is there an inexpensive way to lower the front end a bit to loose some of that extra space over what the rear shows?

any ideas are helpful, out of my comfort zone as i ride on chunky 31 inch tires on my f-250

My ride is smoother with my 225/35/20 then my stock steelies tbh... But on the side note

17x7 +45 225/45/17 would be butter i bet ....as for the front end drop NO there is no inexpensive way to lower it for you.. come on man your daughters gonna be in it just buy some lowering springs and struts. KYB GR-2 struts and some V6 eclipse Eibach springs

well, its my friends daughter but that looks like under $400 option and within budget. not trying to do it CHEAP, just reasonable. under $500 vs over $1000. trying to stay under $1500 on rims/tires but that can be hard to do.

No inexpensive way to lower the gap. You have to buy lowering springs + new shocks to lower the car correctly

In fact, the smaller the sidewall on the tire, the bigger the gap will be noticeable.

I would just stick with the stock 15" steelies if the person is concerned about ride harshness.

its sitting on stock rims and tires, 15 in with hubcaps

Smoothest ride available for 8G's.

And the Price to lower car is at least $400. Doing labor yourself.

if you don't want a shorter sidewall, do not upsize the wheels. if you want meatier tires, replace them w/ 215/55r15.

I see someone selling some tires and rims that are 225/35/20. Will I be able to fit them on my 03 without any adjustments to anything?

theres more to fitting wheels than the size of the tire. The offset and width are important too

Ok so what do you personally recommend for a rim and tire size? I was thinking 17's maybe 18's

Personally, 18's are perfect. Anything bigger will rough up the ride and cost you more in tires.

True good thinking. Ok so now we got the 18's down, what's a good tire size for that without mods?

I run 235/40/18's. I can get away with that because the wheel offset is +35 and I have rolled rear fenders.

You really should do away with the "without modification mindset" These cars don't have as much aftermarket support as other cars do so modifications may be needed here and there.

Others prefer 225/40/18

And those with an aggressive fitment have 245/40/18's. Greddy, a member here has that size.

Ok so where/how can I do the fender rolling?

I did it myself with a roller, its a specialty tool for rolling fenders. I did it at my buddies shop so I had the luxury of shop tools, and vehicle lift.

Others go to an auto accessory shop and get it done.

I have no clue buddy... you would have to call your local shops to find the best price.

I figured 17's or 18's and I like black rims with either blue or chrome lip that are 5 spoke
