Anyone know the bulb size and how many there are for the rear dome light. From the little reasearch I've been doing only newer 8gs came with a rear light. So me being an 02, I guess that started with the 02+ 8g's. Wanna go the led route. Also does it just pull out from the headliner like the front map lights? Also how to get to the lense apart to clean, cause mine looks like it needs it.

Thanks for any info

Mine don't come with, but I'm sure you can just pull the cover off and look at the bulb.

I've just bought the rear dome light assembly and took some pictures (the bulb size is 31mm, 12V 8W ):

That is a big light. Rather than sing a cheap LED Festoon bulb, I would solder in an LED board for more output.

That's it!!!! Thanks a million. How did you get the cover off, I saw a small cut out on the lense that looks like you could use a flathead and pry it off. I tried to pull the whole housing out i like the map lights..and it felt like its bolted in. Like I didn't have to use nearly as much force for the map lights before I got results. When I tried the back dome light, the headliner seemed like it was attached to it as I pulled. So I left well enough alone

I just saw the screwdriver pic..facepalm..so that's how you get to the bulb.

Edit-I used the same size screwdriver as pictured..wrapped in a paper towel, and pried down. Cover off no problem! Now to order a led bulb. Thanks

Also when it's all said and done is there anyway to sticky this or post a link to this thread in the bulb list. Because I've searched and searched..even searched for threads on here using google. And all I've ever found is map light bulb info because it seems few people with sunroofs who had the rear dome were interested, if any at all.

Thanks again to you both

Edit: While I didn't take them out to prove it, I think the light is screwed to the headliner or roof because those two large holes do have screws through them while on the car.

Where'd you get that dome light assembly? I wanted to add domes to the rear of my g but I didn't know how to go about doing that

Some models came with it. Best bet would be to buy the light on ebay or a yard, cut your headliner and wire it to the front one.

Where'd you get that dome light assembly?

Part number is: MR631812

I tried some yards but no luck. It's a very rare part :(

I think 8Gb's with moonroofs have them, my 8Ga with moonroof doesn't, a 2003 ES-V6 I test drove before I bought mine had one though. I definitely wanna get one and wire it in along with these Diamante C-pilar lights.

Wow thanks for the link. Well I was thinking of getting 2 led strips and stick it to the rear winshield and run the wires through the headliner to the front lighs and hook it up to the left and right light respectively since you dont have to get another dome light and switch, and it'll light up to the doors like those front ones do.

Just an idea

Speaking of lighting, I recieved 4 blue led strip that I decided to put in the trunk. I had a small blue led panel in there before that was cheap as hell. It kept falling off the double sided tape and the positive wire connecting to it just snapped off or broke or something...WTH. I tried pulling the ground wire off and no budge, so how did the + break so easily?? Anyways I didn't use tools except a knife. I just splied the plastic coating on the wires and twisted all the ground wires and the positive wires, since the light holder requires a small cylindrical bulb, i took the small housing off and looped the wires around the connectors and made sure they were secure, then I clipped the housing back on with the wires sticking out and stuck the strips on with the double sided tape included. I put two up front facing down, and the other two on a 45 angle in the rear of the trunk so it lights up a little more. Here's the end result

What year Diamanté are the c-pillar lights out of?

All Diamante's have those lights, but the 2G Diamante's have the three-wire harness where the 96-and-earlier Diamante's (1st gen) have the two-wire harness. The three wire harness allows you wire the pillar lights so that they can come on with the doors and with the press of the button, where the two-wire version only lets you do either with the doors or with the push of the button, but not both.
