Welcome to TGC, nice looking Galant there!

Skyforger

Not bad, like I said in the wheel thread, the bronze is a nice look. Stick with it.

Also, those tires are the wrong size. You need 225/45 R17's, those 225/50 R17's are much too big in diameter.

Doesn't matter, they're the incorrect size.

I've been running a set of 235/45 R17's with a set of wheels I have for 3 years...despite many rough roads, no bent rims.

Correct aspect ratio > false idea of cushiony sidewalls

What the hell are you doing ripping through the mud in a Galant? Get a truck for that...

But I ran my set of ROH Adrenalin's, 17x8 with those 235/45 R17 tires without an issue on the G.

No, then again, mine isn't lowered.

specter6633
02-23-2012, 02:18 AM
well then that answered that. i lowered 1.7 front and 1.3 in the back. so im sure the wheels will be too wide. well these pop out a bit and they 225. if i get a rim set with a lower offset will the tires be more in the wheel well? my offset now is 43+

Skyforger
02-23-2012, 02:24 AM
That offset is higher than my ROHs, (they're +35) but 225/50 tires sit taller than 235/45 tires, so you should be fine.

^ Yeah but he also butchered his fenders getting to be able to run that size. Granted you don't see it because of his fender flares. There's a thread on the site somewhere about how he did it.

shhh...lol. anyways my point is if he finds the right combo he could fit 235 with no mods except rolled fenders and some camber

greddy
02-23-2012, 04:30 PM
first of all, my fenders aren't BUTCHERED, they are cut, but if I take the flares of they just look flared out and a little "thin" because there is no lip to them and the paint was a little chipped, which doesn't matter now since I got the car repainted. Second of all, all you need is a 225/45 and you'll be fine, or a 215/50, or a 235/40, or a 245/40, etc...

Just stop.

And obviously you wouldn't have an issue, you have 6 feet of air between your tyres and any part of your car.

OP, if your tyres are not rubbing constantly, you're fine until the tyres wear out, just note that your speedo/odometer will be a bit off.

Greddy, why you butchering your fenders all the time? lol

I agree with skyforger and greddy on the size, 225/45 is the best size for you. If you go 235 you might rub on the fender from time to time.

Trust me, 225 width tires aren't that skinny. For your current setup, 235 width should be the max, and your grip should be just fine.

If you don't have rolled fenders they will rub when you go through an intersection that has a water runway that is lower than the street.

oakrdrs187
02-23-2012, 11:22 PM
Another palce you might rub is on the inner side, on the suspension arm. Trust me and most of us here, you will be just fine and safer running 225/45 tyres. And FYI the sidewall of a 235/40 tire is lower than a 225/45.

Those Michelins have a rather soft rubber compound, they all have nice traction. Keep an eye out for dryrot though, ALL Michelin tires prematurely dryrot, mainly on the sidewalls.

You could just install a 3000k HID kit....

Or if you really want Tiger piss yellow you can get some overlays for them and run 3000k lights, depends what you are trying to accomplish.

You're better off with yellow halogens, and yellow overlays on the fogs.

Please no, Having so much light coming from a source on the ground on a rainy day is the worst for other drivers, Almost all of the light is reflected in off of the road surface into my eyes, we have a problem with Pontiacs that do that around me.

The outside lights are for turn signal floods, like the older Cadillacs had. At night, when you turn on the turn signal, the outside fog on that side of the car lights up and stays lit until the turn signal is either self- or manually cancelled. You can wire a relay to power that light and wire in a capacitor on the signal side of the relay and it would work, I'd have to draw up a diagram, if it isn't one around. Somebody here figured it out, his screen name escapes me at the moment.

Looks sick though bro, love the yellow and black. Only time I ever will, because that's Steelers colors and I hate the Steelers.
