A while back I purchased a set of Dual projector headlights from a guy I forgot his name. He didn't include the ballasts and the HID bulls are in, so thus the stock harness won't power the bulbs, I was wondering if I can swich to regular bulbs that the stock harness will power, or is my only option to buy ballasts?

just buy hids to fit the projectors.... from vvme or ddmtuning.

There are already HID's in there, I just need ballasts alone

^^^ You may purchase just the ballasts. DDM tuning sells ballasts alone for a bit less than the price of a kit and the ballasts have a one year warranty, for the extra 10 or 15 bucks you should just invest in a whole kit which they will warranty both the bulbs and ballasts for life.

Dual projectors for the 8G?
I would like to see...

But does it matter which ballasts I buy? I'm not interested in the kit because the headlights already have an HID in it, and I have spares. I just need ballasts

And let me see if I can find the pics, I'll post them

1. What where you given when you purchased the lights? did you get a harness of some sort?
2. Are the both H3 bulbs ? those might be the ones made by Ericbla (sp)
3. Post pictures of what you have to help us with what you are doing
4. If you are buying ballasts
MAKE SURE THE BALLASTS ARE NOT DC!!!! some ballasts on ebay are super cheap on are DC current so they suck and flicker all of the time.

Ok.....

For 1 you can post all the pictures in one post. And 2, those links are for the picture location on your computer, they aren't gonna show. You need to upload your files first to photobucket, flicker or picasa any of these sites will work. Once uploaded you can paste the links (on one post) and they will be visible to us.

Ahh yes, I remember these being for sale on here. To answer your question yes you can buy just the ballasts. The cheapest place to get them would probably be ddmtuning.com

Now listen closely, they sell ballasts for 12.50 each, so for a pair it would be $25. That's good and dandy but they only have 1 year warranty when you buy them this way so if 366 days from the purchase date they fail you're SOL.

But for $30, only $5 more you can order a complete kit through them which will include bulbs and ballasts and Lifetime warranty on everything. So obviously this is the better deal not just because of the warranty but because you can pick the temperature color you want rather than having to settle for whatever is already in there.

I know you are set on using the bulbs already in there, but it really is better to just get the whole kit. For example, those bulbs haven't been used for a while now, so say you buy just ballasts, what if one of the bulbs already in there fails, Now you have to buy bulbs, the pair will run $15, added to the $25 spent on just ballasts, that's $40, you would have spent $10 more and still only got a year warranty. Don't mean to be rude just trying to look out in getting you the best deal.

I only elaborated so much because OP is very set on buying just ballasts, when its clearly better to get a whole kit.

You convinced me haha
I'm getting the kit.

But as far as the bulbs, all the ones ddm tuning sells will fit correct?
So its just a matter of choosing a temperature?

I truly am very patient, (not just saying). People always tell me that. Whether its remote start installation or just waiting.

You have to get the correct size. If not sure, pull one out and post a picture of it.

Also. you are right by their Huntington Beach warehouse, you can just drive there and save the shipping cost and wait, which is like a week since they ship out of china for online orders. The warehouse is for local "will-cal" pick up.

Did he say the extras and the bulbs from the projectors are the same size?

jonry

I don't believe he ever specifically said that but I would assume they are. I will check when I get a chance

If I were you, check the bulbs in the projector to make sure of what you need.

Well they are from ddmtuning. But I cant make out the base. Post one more pic of the back pf the light with bulbs and caps/grommets off to expose where the bulbs sit.

jonry
03-10-2012, 03:32 PM
So you want to see a pic of the holes in the headlights where the bulbs go in?

Yes, pic of where they go in. Without the bulbs in it.
