I have a low humming noise coming from the front of the car. i can hear only with the radio off and after i pass 50mph. i was looking here and the only humming thing is that loud humming and i don't have that. it does go away when i turn left so i been taking a route to only go left to work since i don't wanna break it cuz i dont get paid till next week. i ran out of ideas. i have new tires new brake pads and the rotors look fine.

From my experience, if there's a humming that changes or goes completely away when you turn the wheel a certain direction it might be your wheel bearings. I drove with mine doing that for three years (don't press your luck though, you could end up loosing a wheel). From what I've been told, if they have a grinding sound then it's critical. On my old G when I turned right it would go away, when left, it would change from a quick rhythmic hum (hum, hum, hum) to a slow, drawn out one (hummmmm, hummmmm).

Here's an interesting read on wheel bearings:

Hope this helps!

Yeah, Greg is correct. It's a low tone probably because it just started to go bad. You may not even get play in the wheel if you check for it. The lubrication in the bearings themselves can dry out, but not give off a vibration until much later on. The hum will only get worse.

I got a wheel bearing with hub and studs from pepboys for about $55-$65, but it was for the rear.

It does sound like it's the bearing, I heard a hum from the back of my car when mine started to go.

The hub assemblies usually go for $90-$140 depending on the brand. Replacing it isn't hard, you just need the right tools. An impact gun is your best friend for this. Especially for breaking loose the CV axle nut. To which, some brands include a new CV axle nut.

I wouldn't, remember you get what you pay for.

Stay away. I've always seen these no name brands wear out very prematurely. Worth paying the extra cash for a quality brand like Timken or the like.

I know most Autozones and Advanced Auto stores carry Timken. Online, just stay away from the cheapo ones. When I did work for autozone a few years back, I did sell a lot of hub bearings to guys that bought the eBay specials, they all seemed to crap out between 10,000-15,000 miles. I'm not saying this is fact, but just from what I've seen people experience buying these things.
