Steering wheel outer layer turned sticky - 8G

Apparently the outer leather skin layer of my steer wheel corroded into a sticky material which became peel-able . So i decided to remove the outer leather skin to replace it with something else..but not sure what... Did anyone come across this with their steering wheel? What did you replace it with?

i just changed the whole steering wheel when that happened to mine.

^^^ That looking really great. I wish I could get someone here to do that for me. Mines just cracked about quarter way around the top from the heat.
