I'm trying to align my clutch but the alignment tool doesn't stay in place. I found some stuff on club3g about plates that go on the flywheel. Here's a picture:http://img.tapatalk.com/a689582f-0a06-dd7a.jpg
I have the one on the right but not the one on the left, is this why the tool won't stay in the right in the center?

You don't need either of those pieces. Sandwich the clutch between the flywheel n pressure plate finger tighten pressure plate, put your alignment tool in center it tighten pressure plate pull out alignment tool mate your trans to motor. Simple as that!!!!

That's how I was doing it but how am going to know when it's right in the center, cause it moves around.

guestimate, just catch the pp plate bolts and tigthen while u hold the alignment tool as center as possible....it seems hard, but i was able to line mine up without either of those plates

your suppose to use both if your using an OEM flywell according to the manual or use the one on the left if your using aftermarket. life will be easier.

From experience:

As deez said you don't need to use any of those, doesn't matter if the flywheel is oem or aftermarket.

Personally I used the one that goes between the bolts and the flywheel.

If you use the spacer that goes between the crankshaft and the flywheel this will happen: https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showthread.php?t=47059

Are you sure you have the right clutch and has the flywheel been resurfaced?

Haven't tightened the pressure plate fully down, guess that's why it moves. I thought it would stay place I'm going to do what you said. I got an exedy clutch for the eclipse.

I don't see the difference in this matter since the consensus is don't use them and thats the same result of my thread and my recommendation.

Or was it about the aftermarket oem flywheel? Please explain

well thats your problem you have to tighten it down all the way dont worry if its off center by a fraction it will fully center itself once you mate the trans to the motor. now get it done lol

Don't worry deez I will haha, the manual trans should be in tomorrow since I'm doing the swap at my uncle's garage and I needed to go back home. Also ran into another problem but don't want start a new thread. I took the passenger side axle and intermediate shaft to a friend's shop, he was able to remove the bracket that holds them. But now we need the seal and the metal cover that goes over it on the intermediate shaft side, anyone know where I could get it? I already went to one part store but they didn't have it, here's what I'm talking about:

I pretty sure that's a dealer part only. Why did you take it apart in the first place?

Guzm4n

To change out the intermediate shaft.

Well here's a Lil bit of info all you had to do to use the auto shaft was widen all 4 holes on the bracket and that would have given you the play needed to shift it over by the cunts hair that it needs to bolt in properly. Hope the dealer don't rip you a new one.. Should have asked here first before relying on a old ass c3g thread

Got another problem, the white piece that goes on the shift lever comes off when I try to shift. How do I fix this?

That white thing sits on a pin check to see if the pin is still on the arm or if the arm is bent and it's just falling off..

Guzm4n
09-01-2012, 03:34 PM
Then I guess the arm is bent cause it still has the pin but when I set the white piece on there it falls off when I shift it.

It's supposed to be tight in the grove of the shaft above it

Okay so I was finally going to take the Galant home but it doesn't start! It cranks but it won't stay on. Anybody know why this is happening?

EDIT: I forgot to mention when I try starting it, it makes a weird noise and afterwards it smells funny, like something burnt.

Update: my uncle and I jump started the car, it turned on. It makes a grinding noise when it's in neutral, when I push the clutch pedal in it stops. Sometimes the car turns on but not all the times. The smell is still there. What could it be?

clutch could be dragging.
also did you short out the right pins on the auto harness? double check the wiring.
also check fluid level.

Guzm4n

I double checked the wiring and it's good, all fluids are good too.
