2003 2.4 PS AC Belt help

Hey All,

03 Galant 2.4L
Belt disintegrated this AM, picked a new one up at NAPA. Put belt on, looks like it will only fit one way around the idler. (no diagram in engine bay showing routing)
Here's my question:
If I tighten everything down and belt has barely any play, engine won't even turn over.
Tried loosening it a bit, engine starts ok but belt slips, squeals and PS and AC pulleys don't turn.
Loosen it all the way, no squealing, no turning of pulleys. What am I missing here?!?!?!:confused:

it was all about the adjuster, backed it all the way off and worked it back to tight a few turns at a time. Went from squealing to having the belt rattle, kept working it till it smoothed out.

Maybe that's what my problem is mine sqeals sometimes. Even after replacing them more so when it rains than when not raining.
