Intercooler fitted. Bumper has a small flex but that's not an issue at all. Modified the crash bar to fit with the intercooler but now the bumper won't fit. So going the tubular way with it. Mocked up my bends with some conduit.

Where were you lacking room, front or sides of the crash beam.

As for the tranny I still have one idea for it but it would probaly cost what a whole evo trans and tcase would cost, maybe more. I wish I wouldve started out with an evo 8 turbo instead of a 400 + turbo at least this way I couldve started out with low hp and worked my way up until something broke. Atleast this way I couldve kept it under the limit after the rebuild and stayed with that. Less down time for me = more seat time just not as fast.

Front. It's too far out.

You can thank Brian for the idea on the double beam crash bar. I have a friend who bent them for me after I gave him the conduit I bent to my desired angles.

Thank you, I never welded before. Unless u wanna consider the two times I attempted mig years and years ago. Recently I attempted to reweld the bottom radiator support seats. That held up on but it was terrible lol.

As far as tig, this is my first time trying. Been welding every night for the last two or three weeks. Already finished a full bottle if 125cf argon and I'm on my second one.

I was welding for about an hour per night. Some nights even longer. Until the torch got too hot to the touch.

Brian said u were in the market for a tig. For the price and the warranty u can't go wrong with the Eastwood unit. But if u got more cash to blow then a Miller is a good option.

Haha maybe he was telling me about when u asked him which unit to buy?? I assumed this was a recent thing but it could've been an old story he never told me. Cuz him and I were talking about my welder and he thought the Eastwood unit had a hardwired torch.

Stripped the rusty area to give them some rust treatment before I dig any deeper. Going to use a cup brush on an angle grinder to strip it down to bare metal then soda blast the hard to teach areas.

Honestly, not sure about "need", but since you are cutting into it already. It's one of those things that I always thought I would try to improve if I had a welder, and see if a stiffer tubular part can be created. I do actually remember denting a brand new factory crashbar just with my jack while lifting the car - always loved stamped parts lol.

I wouldn't mind making one eventually. Right now with the lack of a garage u don't want to so any extra work I don't have to do. I'm struggling enough with mother nature cuz it's changing the forecast constantly and I wanna finish the car before June.

Once I have a place with a garage then I'll probably make one.

Getting close, did you oil prime the motor? If you didnt it would be a good idea before you put the timing belt on. Nice cam gears too I think Ill go with the AEM's next engine build, hopefully no time soon though.

I really give it to you though, for not having a garage you sure do make the best of it. You go out of your way to make sure you have shelter which is really helpful.

Haha thanks man. Not having a garage sucks but we make it work.

No i didn't prime the motor. I was planning on adding oil to it and cranking it with the injectors disconnected so I can get oil everywhere and build pressure before firing it up.

You recommend another way??

Timing belt is already on but it's coming off so I can add the crank sensor and its plate.

Well the old dsm way is to take the chuck of the a electric drill and tighten it to the nut of the oil pump gear/cog. Make sure its spinning the direction the timming belt is supposed to rotate, block off all the ports that the oil would come out of, remove the valve cover and press the drill trigger. Run it until the oil comes out of the head galleys. Im sure theres lots of youtube videos about this.

It would be best if you did this as close as possible to your start up.

i have a funny story about that cap off the trans. the first time I had to open it up, I was daily driving the car and I couldnt wait for that little plug. So I took a quarter, rtv, and duct tape. good progress dude!

i have a funny story about that cap off the trans. the first time I had to open it up, I was daily driving the car and I couldnt wait for that little plug. So I took a quarter, rtv, and duct tape. Put some rtv on one side of the quarter, pressed it onto the cap and secured it with duct tape and that mother fucker stayed together for like two years. lol
Lol I thought about going and finding a freeze plug that size. Or somehow fix the hole I punched into it. But decided to just wait for the new plug. I ordered two of them and they're coming from Texas or something since my stupid dealer couldn't find it in their system to order it.

Now that I sat and thought about it. If I flatten the inside with a hammer so the metal is straight where I poked it with the screw driver then I can use jdweld and fill that hole and be good. There is a jdweld or an epoxy that's made for steel that holds up to heat and everything.

Today I mounted the manifold and turbo and ran the power steering lines. Mounted the A/C condenser but going to the yard to get another one tomorrow along with a compressor

Intercooler is also mounted.

small update:

heater core bypassed.

tuner worked on the car more, found out my front o2 sensor is bad, replaced it and retuned again. idles better and drives better (just drove it down the street) still leans out a bit and sputters.

upper radiator hose is done just waiting for t-bolt clamps for it.

Moroso battery box is installed in the trunk, just need to finish the wiring for the battery.

power steering magically bled itself, just need to replace feed hose and flush the old fluid out since its pink which means there is water in the system or massive condensation.

UICP will be installed soon with a Tial adapter for now until im able to properly weld the Tial flange on there

Need to somehow squeeze an intake on the turbo with this fan in the way so i dont suck all the hot air from the fan. Evo fan is SO MUCH better than that stupid universal fan i had on there. i will test it for sure on a hot day driving it. temps at idle is around 200F

Had major issues leaning out. Changed tunes and changed roms and still no luck. Starting poking around and found out my COP harness which failed to lock in the pins, so it barely plugged in and it caused for bad spark which caused the ecu to pull fuel and lean it out.

my final conclusion is that i may have a wiring issue,*

i swapped another set of Toyota denso coils and it didnt make a difference. i changed back to stock coils and the car great. so now i needed to extend the passenger side coil wire to reach the coil properly.*

after extending it and taping the wire back together, started the car and it did the same thing. undid the tape and started it and started wiggling wires around to see if i can cause it to do what it did before and nothing happened. taped the harness again and tested it and she ran fine.*

tested my COP harness for continuity on all pins and they are all fine. so im convinced that my ignition harness has a problem somewhere and i need to pull it all out and remove the tape and inspect it.

So finally got around to working on the car. Swapped the ecu and it made no difference.

Yesterday my friend Matt came over to help me clean up the harness and replace any shady looking connections and it finally idles, runs, and drives.

Here's before:

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/7a7e4fa265425126b179883ecb9847bb.jpg
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/7b6fd98aaa99b7183758a23c4d0873e4.jpg

Here's after:
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/412c772c682f983b17855a7e0b7e0b90.jpg
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/7f106ea4e2fc1b43aa87c299d5e9c12f.jpg
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/e4b4e8605b3ad90522325d29b960360d.jpg

Now just need some wrap around wire sleeving and it should look so much better.

Relocated the ecu for better and easier access. Need to make a mounting plate to keep it sturdy from vibrating or moving around.

Need to fix the fan, welded the brackets to the old radiator so I need to cut and reweld them again. And I need to install a coolant overflow bottle.

Been a while since I updated this. Didn't get very far but we're getting somewhere.

After the harness cleanup we did. We had an issue with the front oxygen sensor not logging. Found out after some inspection that the wires at the pigtail were stripped
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161024/b8ac2e196554fd9d04dca072691e4bd7.jpg

Got that replaced and then we were good to go. Tuner had been busy and been kinda ignoring me, that's what happens when you overbooked yourself. I also think he got bored with my car never wanting to run properly. Long story short I moved on to another tuner.

New tuner who shall remain unnamed for now until I ask him if I can disclose who he is. Had some trouble with my idle. The afr was being really stupid either running rich or lean and can't get it to hit that sweet spot easily. After few tunes and different adjustment we got it to a good spot.

At this point I decided to either send those injectors out for a cleaning or just buy new ones and try that.

Got a major hook up on ID1000, paid $385 shipped instead of $480. Ordered then Thursday morning, got them Friday afternoon. I ordered PnP adapters for them but those are still on the way. Came with connectors and pins so I salvaged a set of adapters I had for the subaru injectors and made adapters for these.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161024/0e7b77cf01627394b32b8ed39ae18c0c.jpg

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161024/b757c16afa2b78f241516aa81e135b7d.jpg
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161024/e70a603496741c357e17d9ef79896d61.jpg

And installed them Saturday evening and fired it up on a base map
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161024/682e650549ea5e89aa027e02b1e0188e.jpg

The Afr is so much more stable. Fic are great injectors but seems that ID injectors are more stable. Although the base map was a bit on the rich side, it was only fluctuating between 11.8-12.3 now that's very impressive. Tuner said the idle log looked really good and the car sounded so much smoother.

More tuning to come soon and hopefully I can turn up the boost.

I Got it now 18'' How is the suspension system did you change anything? made higher so the tires don't hit the inside? So curious cause The Galant has a wide body and small rims looks funny on them i got 16'' installed due to bad roads here.

No didn't change my ride height. Left it the same. No rubbing anywherw. Didn't try sharp turns yet but I'm sure it will run on sharp turns.

May look wide to you. But it actually isnt. And the wheelbase are very small. Im sure after he gets alignment. Everything will set correctly.

I got an alignment already. Need to adjust my camber on front and back to make it more even on both sides.

Took it out to run some errands yesterday. No heater core sucks. I want to replace it but not now since I don't have a garage yet.

Did the heater core. 7 hours from beginning to almost everything back in.

4 hours later half the dash is back in

This is where I ended Friday evening.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161227/2c6ce5ca9dabe53fd81c1e289e74d38f.jpg

Went back today and tidied up the alarm wiring under the steering column and behind the stereo. Blew the door lock/radio ignition fuse. Fix that and now the car is buttoned up and starts. But I lost power locks. With the help of stewi I tested the ETACS ECU that is behind the fuse box and also swapped the one from the daily and no go. We believe the driver side switch is fried.

What does the etacs controll besides the power locks?

It has about 20 spots for pins and it plugs behind the fuse box. I'm honestly not sure what exactly it controls since I never had to mess with it.

It also has two connectors that plugs into it which houses about 20-30 wires.

This picture shows the connector that it uses to plug into the back of the fuse box (white connector) and also the black housing on the side where the two connectors plug into it.

No problem. I try to document as much stuff as I could so if I ever need to go back and look at stuff then it's there for me and others.

Since u asked. I found out that the ETACS ECU is also the brain for the stock remote. When I swapped the ETACS from the daily to the racecar I can unlock it with the stock remote from the daily.

I haven't posted in a while. Well the car is running great and we are tuning for more boost. Boost by gear is great. Street tuning is good until you hit high boost and use street tires that font hook when fill boost hits. We were around 400ish hp and then went to 1058hp lol. At 28psi with wot in 4th gear I break traction.
The graph shows a nice smooth curve. The car is making power across the powerband but no traction. Was going to test n tune night Friday but we got rained in. So tomorrow gonna try to mount my drag radials and go try street tuning again and see if we get traction doing 3rd gear pulls. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170508/ed0dbfe6d6bb86b7ff837a904664c49a.jpg

Slowly but surely. I'm glad it's holding up to all the pulls so far. Hopefully I can have it on the track running and tweaking my launching for best traction.

It's been a while. Not much been happening. Busy with work and moved to a new house.

Finally strapped it to a dyno last weekend. Made 451whp in 4th gear.

Here is the dyno sheet. For some reason the torque had bad resolution. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180427/fe172e3304794739abf7f7474f7bdb66.jpg

Damn it's been a year since my last post. I can see that these forums are dying and new comers aren't as dedicated to their galants as the old timers.

I still have mine, she's alive and kicking.

Took her out two weeks ago for the first time since MOD last year. Got her through emissions and went for a small cruise.

Last year I acquired Brian's shell to swap into.

Sunday I went and got this new galant.

Nice pick up. both cars are looking good. I'm currently working to get mine back on the road after 6 years of being tucked away in the garage after an accident. Keep it up.
