I literally pulled everything out except the upper dash and pulled off all the pointless brackets and metal and put it all back together with just the "interior" plastic shell. If I put carpet back in nobody would be any the wiser until you looked for a back seat.

Yessir item received and being processed. hmmmm 10" wide wheel? why? need a specific tire size? contact patch for traction? I can see it happening but the fenders will need a lot of work or cutting into them so the fender flares are hiding the cutting.

Schweet. Multiple reasons, but most yeah contact patch, and i just want a nasty stance. How much work for a 9.5 235 40 22mm?

Lots of fender massaging and removing liners then pulling liners and rolling the tabs.

Pretty sure Greddy made a thread about that exact topic either here, on GT, or both.

greddy
12-02-2012, 11:06 PM
yeah, I have, but the gist is that you need to cut the fender lips out up front, install flares, then cut the lips of the flares out, the rear is the same, although I suppose you could flip the inner lip out instead of shaving it down like I did. The point is, it takes some work and patience if you want tires that will actually hold up to your power levels. I'll be fitting a 255 bfg R1 semislick this winter which is about as wide as your average 265/75 so I'll let you know how that goes. It comes down to if you want lower offsets with narrower tires and more camber or slightly higher offset but some meat on the tires, I've done both, I had 17x9.5 +30 work vsxx with 235 toyos on them with a slight stretch, I've had 17x9 +27 5zigens with 255/40s falkens on them, currently on 18x9s +30 with 245/40 NT-05s that are wider than my 255s were smh... and then for next track season as I mentioned I'll have huge slicks on the car. The point is you can go for super style or super function, or try and find the happy medium in between which is what I've tried, functional camber levels to clear wheels with beefy tires with a nice offset so it's not sunk. Sorry for the novel in your thread Marc, I'm tired and I didn't feel like digging up my old thread :) carry on boys

WTH? How? Are you tuned? Even with my lightfoot wife driving my 4-cyl Galant, she only managed to get ~350 out of a tank. Me in my V6? 250 to 280 consistently, and lately it's been lower, but I've been filling up before the light comes on.

You know Marc and I have always been collaborating together with the tuning stuff, Marc has excelled with the 4cyl motors for good reason with his Evo and Galant tuning. I could always help you out with a tune for the V6 motor as that is what I have mainly worked on for tunes.

Now people are seeing how OCD Marc and I are about our tuning and the results it is getting for overall performance and not just sucking your wallet dry for fuel costs

wetamup2k3g
12-10-2012, 05:38 PM
Matt, that sounds good. I'm bone stock save for a removed intake resonator, so I'd think it'd be easy to give me a base tune or something (i'm not 100% on the terminology). I'd need to learn Ecuflash and the sort, and perhaps a wideband installed, but I'm definitely interested. I can't make a move until the first of year financially, but keep me in mind, I definitely want to learn more.

Sorry for the threadjack Marc!

greddy
12-14-2012, 12:57 AM
Marc, I would suggest getting an evo 8 oil filter housing rather than using a sandwich plate, there are two ports on it that you can open up for your feedline and your oil pressure gauge sender if you get one, direct bolt on too, and it allows you to easily run an oil cooler and prevents the oil filter from hanging lower than necessary. While you're down there I would suggest getting either an OEM evo oil pan baffle or a tomei piece. Just some thoughts. :) Can't wait to see the numbers when you're done.

Ivory8g
12-14-2012, 01:18 AM
yeah I saw that in your thread and was like wth? o_O thats news to me that the housing just bolts up. I'll run with the sandwich adapter for the time being since its already ordered and had a good experience with the greddy one. I will definitely pick up the evo housing though. super convenient. I actually plan on having a baffle fabbed when the 64 pan comes off ;)

Yessir. Your prize is on its way LOL. I freaking hate permatex alone on oil pans. Its all Mitsubishi used on the evo x and just like every evo x that hasnt been cracked open its an oily mess underneath. I never had that problem since on Ivory I permatex the pan, then put the gasket on, then permatex on top of the gasket. Seals like a boss and never see a drop of oil. Over the top but I prefer that.

Exhaust is on. I was expecting it to sound LOUD inside since its gutted but it really isnt at all. Left to silencer in to keep some back pressure in there and its nice and zippy! haha I wasnt expecting to feel anything. Did some quick tuning for the pump injectors and bigger rail. excuse the filth? Am I supposed to excuse the dent in the driver door too!? hahah I'm just picking. I love the uniqueness of this project bro.

Ebay exhaust ftw! I tired rocking the entire thing on my daily, but after sawing off the muffler to extend it, the muffler cage inside broke off the welds and was just hanging out restricting flow. I put on a 3in magnaflow muffler I had sitting around instead. I would never order an ebay muffler again just because of how it "fell apart".

And that's why if I buy an eBay exhaust I will weld up my Apexi muffled to it and trash the original one lol

give it time to break in, i have just the axle back portion, and after a yr of it it got abit louder, i ended up puting the silencer back in just so i dont get a drowning effect.

Yep exactly. I'm rolling around with the silencer in to kill the na drone. It will come out when the turbo goes in.

Thanks guys! I freaking love this manifold. Only other one I have seen on a galant is Roman's G. I have to rotate or cut and adjust the radiator hose to use it but I love the ram horn style. should help even out the flow between the runners nicely

2800 lbs
350 whp
will net me an 8:1 power to weight ratio

My evo x weighs 3600 with me in it and makes 450whp and has a power to weight of 8:1 ;)
I think you see where I'm headed.

greddy
01-09-2013, 12:37 AM

Ivory8g
01-09-2013, 12:44 AM
Holy crap! Really? You know what power goal to go for. I could tell the car was under 2800 easy since Ivory was 26xx lbs with the buckets I put in. Tumbler feels slightly heavier but havent made it to a scale yet to see exactly where I'm at now.

greddy
01-09-2013, 09:45 AM
Yeah. Two bride seats. Gutted trunk no rear sound deadening. Cf hood trunk. 5 spd swap. Lots of little stuff cut off or modified to be smaller. Small battery etc

yep exactly where ivory was minus the small battery. I cant wait for the tumbler to reach the same level.

Thanks man yeah I'm glad people can learn from my experiences. Uniqueness is always the way to go in my mind ^_^
The hood wont be staying so I'm not worried about the dents on that. The door either I'm gonna pop it out when I do the tint or I'm getting a replacement door.

Don't worry, you'll stay unique with that paint for a while! I'll be spraying the underside of my car with bed-liner one day in the near future (to prevent rust), but I'm most likely going to end up going metallic black topside. I'm learning a lot about how things come apart, and what parts and pieces work for people, reading these epic build threads. I just wish the community was larger... it really seems like there are only a handful of active members, with REALLY effin' nice cars.

Ivory8g
01-09-2013, 02:41 PM
There are indeed. I like the community being small. Keeps our cars unique and the cost of parts down :)

On a side note I'm being lazy, dont feel like putting my intercooler on as it wont be until the weekend that the turbo will make round 2 to go in LOL.

I have miles of clearance between the starter and the turbo. The manifold is awesome. Found out from the person I inherited it from that its an evo 8/9 obx manifold designed from the invidia mani with the wastegate arm rotated and rewelded. no spacers or anything. I have an obx o2 housing as well. On monday she's getting the downpipe and the exhaust will be all done.

Any driving yet? Get some vids up, I can't wait to see. Must be a record for fastest build ever!

Nope not yet. Just drove her around the block and then took her home from my buddies house since its still O2 housing straight to atmospere. She's only running wastegate pressure at 4-5 lbs and no mbc or anything. Im amazed that it feels as good as it does for such little boost. HAHA and I wonder if I hold the fastest build record?
