You know, I heard about this awhile ago my self, and when i got my 440s I was going to get them flow tested and cleaned, and talk about my flow options,

i think it would be cool to do this mod to another set and get them flow tested just for kicks.

Damn if I would've known I would've stuck with the 440's and not messes with resistor boxes and shit.
I know huh? I actually forgot about it myself until I saw my idc's were almost 90% then it triggered the memory lol.

Definitely a great mod. I'm pretty happy with this mod. I still gotta get them all dialed in 100% before I do a pull to see where my idc's will be. I'm guessing 40% LOL

Thanks man! I'm definitely going to tint it. Which reminds me I need to order the precut sheets and do it. I thought about doing that blackout on the interior but I think I actually like the tan. A little color inside the black cloak and the tan disappears at night. so tint it is!

Lower intake temps, less prone to vacuum leaks, mine failed threw a P0401 and I said screw buying another egr for $70 another when the blockoff plate is $10 shipped. The aluminum reservoir is from ebay $30 shipped and about $100 less than most of what I see out there with the same quality. Welds are tight and its seriously solid. Its comparable to the mishimoto unit

Thanks bro! It really was about $25 entirely. Less for me since I already had the double side sticky tape.
I put the 3m tape on one side and a screw to get it started then I noticed it looked like a dam oreo with grey filling so I just used screws for the rest of it and it holds great. Used my power drill all the way around putting in the screws and washers. Once one side is lined up its just matching up and moving down the line. really easy!

So installed the egr delete and completely eliminated the vacuum leak I couldn't track down. BEST $10 EVER! Car idles smoother than stock! aka I probably had a failing egr affecting my car the whole time -__- I still cant believe how smooth it is. The sound of the car is DEEP now. Like people were starring when I was rolling down the street driving like a normal motorist.
Soldered/wired up/installed a second slim radiator fan (yeah I sound like a jet at idle now)
Took it home and installed the new coolant reservoir and went to tighten the hose to the barb next to the radiator car and the barb straight fell off >:-| RAWR!!!! I had a turrets moment right then and there. Ordered an aluminum 2bar civic half radiator, evo torque solutions radiator stay, aluminum bumper quick releases like my evo. In the meanwhile I'll probably get another stocker from a junkyard tomorrow.

Whats a egr delete?

Ivory8g
03-17-2013, 08:33 PM
Whats a egr delete?

The EGR valve controls a small passageway between the intake and exhaust manifolds. When the valve opens, intake vacuum draws exhaust through the valve. This dilutes the incoming air/fuel mixture and has a quenching effect on combustion temperatures which keeps NOX within acceptable limits.

Deleting the valve yields
-cleaner intake manifold
-less of a chance of a vacuum/boost leak
-little bit less clutter in the engine bay

Ivory8g
03-17-2013, 08:36 PM
So went to the junk yard and pulled another radiator with the wife.
Threw it back in and put my slim fans back on today. The old one was HIDEOUS on the inside.

Drove the car to the gas station and back and the car pulls and extra 4 in/hg vacuum. I was cruising on 20! holy crap if I was at sea level i would be passed 20 that is going to be awesome for gas mileage. people were saying that egr delete makes you waste a little more gas. maybe on a stock tune. lol

I'm tempted to but I dont want to pull it cause its just going to have to go in come emissions time. It aint broke I aint fixing it right now :P

So I did some fuel trim tuning as well today so the car isnt pulling fuel. On the highway a hopped up diesel truck was tailgating me and egging me on so I dusted him in one pull lol. He then proceeded to follow at a safe distance of 8 car lengths LOL

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a84/hakkeshou/The%20Tumbler/tumblerissexy5.jpg
The engine bay with the coolant reservoir. So stealthy! I used orange line that matches the ksports perfectly to run from the radiator to the reservoir. I like the pop and it ties the front of the bay to the back.

It was sitting pretty close with the old radiator and the new bigger turbo but never hit it. I pulled the radiator from a 2003 galant 4g64 and it was a slightly thicker core. it was touching. So I hit boost and the turbo let the radiator have it. LOL I guess mitsu upped the core size just a tad on the 2003's. Ah well half radiator is going in for sure now and there will be some more engine room. I just dont want to change it all out and burp the system AGAIN! lol.

This is the way I tucked my tb cable on Ivory and The Tumbler

Unhook your throttle body cable and runit behind the engine block and along the subframe
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a84/hakkeshou/955DAA31-1F04-4421-BF77-E494076CA539-38445-00000EA520A43250-1.jpg

I then re-ziptied the cable along the lines along the firewall (redid it with blue zipties so its easy for everyone to spot)
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a84/hakkeshou/861E68E6-2A56-4E39-9A50-BD8DD60FB460-38445-00000EA531AF181A-1.jpg

Its all about smoothness when it comes to torque. People want to feel a torque "hit" and tune accordingly......THAT is what breaks stuff. My cars and peoples cars I tune have some of the smoothest torque bands around because I tune for the torque curve. No spun/flattened bearings, vented blocks, or broken driveline parts on my tunes or cars ;)
And its sad but true, hp#'s = penile measurement tool. Funny cause they usually dont get the girls HAHA

I'm not going to name names and all that but the long and short of it I tuned a car and got stabbed in the back and it just really left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I'm done. The only reason I'm typing this is so that people wont wonder what happened or where I went. All the people that I'm close to know how to get a hold of me.

I get fucked too here. Doing xml, and coding and no type of donation for my time. But is cool i just stop doing it and done. Let them go to evom or club3g even open ecu. You know what! they wont do shit for the galant community.

People think hard work is for free.

If you look big gurus on evom. They got a toms toms of donation to do disassembly for the ecu. To name a few mfred, tephra, acumus and others members. Lots of evos guys knows the importance of keeping the programers and tuners happy because there is not a lot that will sit down and start coding specially for some cheap ass members.

Here on the galant community is sad that members dont see the big picture of smart member like you.

Well I'll post what I posted on the fb group here. Purely because I dont want anyone else to get caught is this losers wake. On the forums I believe his username is Galant2010. Dude who bought Fred's old G.

"Thanks everyone. Well some good points made I dont want anyone else getting screwed over so thats the only reason why I will go farther into detail.
Several months back now I was contacted by Marlon Brandow through my facebook tuning page Apex Powered about tuning his galant he was planning on boosting. Many messages back and forth concerning the process and walking him through it as well as how much I would charge to tune his car. I didnt collect payment because my work ethic compels me to tune the car first make sure the customer is happy and THEN get paid. I also charged him less because he has kids to look after. Anyways he finished boosting his galant. At this point its ready to be tuned, got some help from my buddy Isaurio on the xml and tuned Marlons car. Car is running fine, he had a few boost leaks to take care of but thats because he used worm clamps and werent torqued correctly. Easy stuff to fix and car was running fine. He was on a time crunch since its his daily and he has to take kids to school in it. Tuned it in under an hour. I told him I would do a touch up tune free of charge once the car was pressure checked and there were no leaks to make sure afr's would not change. Since it was 99% done on my part I asked for payment and thats where the bs started. All the excuses in the book. He's strapped for cash/ he has too many things on the car to fix/ blah blah blah. All this being said while I watch him paint his wheels and post pics, challenge people to races, driving to the lake to chill with family. Where are you getting the gas money? Where are you getting the money to paint your wheels? Confront him about it nicely and he deletes me from facebook LOL."

Bro I know. I see it day in and out in the evo world since I am on those forums as well. Coding and programming is so complex its just as complicated as tuning the actual car once you have access to it. I agree with you 100%

Since it was 99% done on my part I asked for payment and thats where the bs started. All the excuses in the book. He's strapped for cash/ he has too many things on the car to fix/ blah blah blah.

Big whoop! Should have told him welcome to the world of modding and tuning. Thats expected from Turbo cars, (leaks, wrong temp spark plugs and gaps, bad coils, bad injectors, bad maf and map sensors... I've been going to with friend to dyno his race car for a long time) you weren't in the wrong in asking for payment. Turbo charging a car and strapped for cash don't go hand in hand. Also its not the tuners fault things need to be fixed, your services were provided 99% of the way at the best of your ability with what you had to work with, he should have paid up at least 90% of the way, most sane people would have just paid in full and came back to touch up the map once the little things were taken care of. Marc you aren't going nowhere bro, you're gonna stay and bullshit with us forever and that's that.

IMO The guy doesnt have his prioritys straight. Spends tons of moeny he "doesnt" have when he should be spending it on his kids. He wanted to buy my ported head, and other parts before and it was a complete ass pain/ could have gotten screwed over scenario. Gald you are staying Marc. The community needs people like you
Yep exactly. I was asking him why he even bothered turboing the car if he didnt have to money put aside and tied up already to have it tuned. And how he could pay for gas and paint his wheels and talk crap to people about racing and he has the balls to tell me if thats what he wants to do he can. Some people I swear. My mouth just dropped lol. I assume he's a single parent, even if hes not my priorities would be on feeding my kids not a car. Glad you didnt go through with that transaction. He supposedly doenst even have a paypal lol. Thanks Matt I appreciate it man.

Exactly! All the mechanical help and walking him through stuff and info, psh I know shops where you bring your car 100% percent or youre going home with no tune so YOU can figure it out and bring it back. I know when I do ANYTHING to my car I have that money put aside everyday, search for parts for hours, draw models, prototype etc. There's no way you can boost a car and not have money to pay for tuning let alone extra gas money to actually enjoy the boost.

I figured you were mad bro, you too level-headed to make a rash decision like that. This is good that we know, because now he has explaining to do. Now he either has to make things right or join another car community with a another car (more money) and leave Galants alone. Good luck finding another platform that you can buy into as cheaply and has helpful, non-douchy members like this community has. So it'd be in Marlon's best interest since he's two Galants in to fix this situation quick.

meth is dangerous when
A: part of the system fails or a line is kinked and there is no spray. higher timing and no failsafe=boom
B: people pass mbt (minimum best timing) while tuning and keep going=boom

I plan on running it for the steam cleaned engine and for reliability. And lower IAT's (intake air temp) I'm not planning on increasing timing. No danger if the car can run the timing on its own. running 11.8 afr now, I'll probably run closer to a 11.0-11.5 at WOT

Could of hit that HDR-ish filter on the crapple =P

Looks good man. For your tune, wouldn't you want to keep your AFR closer to 12's for torque? Maybe it's more of a preference lol.
I still need to bug you for some more getup and go for my daily 2.4L

So far I bumped timing up by 3 between 3krpms and 5.5krpms between 60 and 100 load (put 10k miles on it since). Didn't really notice much on the butt-dyno but makes me feel better. I could use some guidance for NA power!

i hate the hdr on the iphone. ugh. so over saturated.
Yeah 12's are awesome but you have to consider the engine is going to run hotter and the head design isnt the best and cant keep cool and efficient. Thats why i run a richer afr for safety and the cost of torque. Our cars arent lacking in the torque department by any means at a richer afr. Also more timing wont do much without less fuel saturation and more air going in for a cleaner burn.

It's more because of my driving style I think. And I mostly did city driving at the time. I went to go visit my siblings in school 3 hours away and I got like 330 to the tank. But there were a few 80-120 pulls on the highway. Haha.

It holds really well. A lot of people ask me about it. The killer would be torque. I tune my cars to have smooth onset of torque and hold flat. Not a giant spike and taper. That is what breaks stuff. That way I can stomp the gas and get a nice surge. The car accelerates like a big motor car not the typical turbo car ^_^

Yeah! Heat, torque, and poor maintenance kills autos. If you keep the trans oil temp in range, change the fluids like you suppose to, and maintain a proper torque curve, these trannies can take SOME abuse.

but thats like no fun! What about burning tires at 70mph!? lol

That's can happen with an auto...but you might end up breaking something.

But come on! Constant ETs, NLTS, no missed shifts, no clutches to swap out(sort of)

Ivory8g
01-15-2014, 02:14 AM
Lets not forget the non exist ant boost drop on shifts. I drop 2 psi mid shift lmao. And I have wheel spin when boost hits at low speeds. I was amazed the drivetrain loss didn't completely eliminate that

mysticj
01-15-2014, 10:26 AM
Usually there a difference in WHP between autos and manuals but torque remains, the most part, about the same between the two as the torque converter...converting torque from the engine to get the vehicle moving. That's what robs WHP, the torque converter but it can gain some of it back by using a smaller diameter and/or lighter weight converter.

But your car behaves like its positive displacement charged!

Ivory8g
01-15-2014, 01:04 PM
Yep I had thoughts of going to a lighter converter when I had her open bit I said eff it haha. Honestly this car is as fast/faster than Ivory boosted and manual tranny. I'm quite pleased

They all have the input output. The way it was explained to me is Input measures torque converter rpm (input shaft) and output measures the output shaft speed (to diff) and the bigger one on the diff measures vehicle speed for you to see on the dash. Input/output are for pcm shift points and whatnot.

I painted the bumper clips on the side for a little more stealth. Totally noticeable. Also she's a lot darker black now instead of the grey it would shift to in the right light.

You need to sell me a tune for my daily, that will in return = gas savings to me which paid for tune =)

Do you offer classes? xD

Lol I already asked him to sell me a tune for the daily. I commute 56 miles everyday to school. Gas is killing me. I think it's cheaper to snag a wideband and have him tune it for me lol

Ballasts weren't getting enough power sometimes and had to turn them on and off.

Wires look thin, possible reason behind flicker.

That's the harness that I added in. Flicker is gone. Oem harness wasn't designed to power hid ballasts

When injectors go, do they just quit or do they lean you out before they go? Hoping it's the former.

It depends. injectors always have power, all the ecu does is apply the ground via a transistor. But an injector is a solenoid, so 50/50 i guess unless it gets stuck.

They can also dump way too much fuel causing flooded cylinder.

this is exactly what happened. im sure, had a misfire, wouldnt pass above 2k rpm all of a sudden, and was rich as efffff. Then wouldnt hold idle unless throttle was wide open then wont turn on at all. an injector/injectors definitely quit lol. already have another set ordered though. and the wheels ill see to soon :P after that its off to the dyno again to tune.
