Does anyone know if you can put a 99 2.4 SOHC block in a 94 with DOHC?

i think there are some differences in the blocks, so i'd say no...plus the the 99 engines are inverted 180 degrees from the 94, so even if the head bolts up, the mounting points for the motor mounts might be off....just find a 94-98 galant block, whether SOHC or DOHC (94 only)

How did you get your hands on a 1994 galant dohc head first off? And the answer is no. You need an Evo or Kia head mainly to work with the 99 block. Any 94-98 block will work with the head. Go to the tutorial section and look up the head swap for how to make a single came block accept the dohc head.

I think we are both missing something. He said the 94 is dohc so it's a GS. The stock block in the GS is the best 2.4 block. Factory oil squirters and only block for DOHC. Please research about the GS if that is what you have as they are very rare.

Can you put a 99 2.4L in a 94 with a DOHC, You mean can you put a 99+ 4G64 block in a 7G with a GS DOHC head?

Yes, but only two out of five transmission bolts will go in...so a custom adapter is needed.
