Would it be worth paying someone to do it for me, I've done a gasket change on a vs commodore before but it's probably a different story.

nope it does not play to have someone so something like this. If you have an I4 its a breeze one cover to remove, a V6 is harder as you have to remove the intake plenum to get the back cover. so i think for an i4 you can be done in an 30 to hour. for a v6 atleast 4-5 hours for a first timer.

Yeah it's a v6 BUT what makes it even harder is the piping from the turbos :( so might take even longer, good think I've got 2 weeks off work in a week ;)

ooooooh, ok, so you have a 7g VR4 then? yeah, turbos do complicate things, remember to change the oil immediatly after reassembling the engine before starting it and fill the coolant (also don't forget to burp the cooling system), and make sure to get the heads (unless you know which specific head gasket is blown) machined so the mating surfaces are absolutely flat, these would be only a handful of stuff you should make sure to do during this

good luck and could you please post pictures?

Would I be able to take my heads to any local mechanic or should I try find a specialist shop.

It's not a vr-4 it's just a normal 1994 galant, but I dropped a 6a12tt in it. And just over time the gasket started leaking, havnt done any kind of heavy mods to it so I doubt the head would have been warped. Is shaving it 100% nessecary?

Thanks for the info guys
