On ebay searchin to see what kind of cheap parts they had and came across this... My thoughts does it really work? I don't think so but maybe you guys know something I don't

LOL! NO, get a real tune, send your ECU to spd_frk , Silvertune, Ivory8g, or Isaurio just to name a few.

link doesn't work

it doesn't really matter, 'performance' chips don't really work, nor are really necessary nowadays or are remotely advisable, reflashing your ECU using a Tactrix adaptor and cable is far more effective as with the use of ECU flash (or EVOscan and there adaptor and cable), you can change damn near anything

http://www.evoscan.com/

I'm biased, I like Tactrix and ECU flash a bit more mostly due to the free software

while ECU flashing can do incredible things, it won't yield anything remotely closely close to what is claimed by that Ebay item with your stock engine, so therefore that Ebay item won't do anything remotely close to that if it does anything whatsoever

if I might ask, why are you looking into these things if your not looking into increasing your power?

Ask yourself this question - if it really worked, why isn't every auto parts store selling them? Why aren't they more expensive? Why wouldn't manufacturers use this to increase gas mileage instead of spending millions of dollars try to squeeze every MPG out of the engines they currently have?

Manufacturers run cars rich so they last a long time. Running lean and doing so for a long period of time reliably requires a few bells and whistles that are only now being implemented though sharply offset by emissions requirements which contrary to the current environmental board are actually what is causing fuel consumption to remain so high. Having a cat 4" off the port is the worst thing you could even do to an engine seeking efficiency...

That said, a reflash is a fantastic upgrade. It is noticeable even on a 100% stock motor. This said the farther you take it the better your results will be. Just remember the health of your engine can yield the same results. A full clean out and tune up will restore more MPG and power than a flash if it's been long enough.

All those "chips" do most of the time is wire into the IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensors and "trick" them to think the engine is receiving colder air thatn what is actually coming into the engine. This adds fuel and "increases performance" of the vehicle as they say. It is a plain and simple hack job of tuning or any sort of performance product gimic to make money.

EcuFlash tuning will yield anywhere from 5-10hp gains depending on the tune you have setup for it. Driveability, fuel economy, and smooth consistent power is noticeably improved throughout the RPMs when you really spend the time with the tuning, and not just having the fuel and ignition maps "tuned." A lot of tuning shops will simply adjust various cells within the ignition and fuel tables but they do not smooth out the maps or really spend the time tuning this platform like they would on an Evo (and even then myself and Ivory8g have seen them not even go that far on that platform's tuning).

If you want to learn more on the EcuFlash tuning, visit the link below and save it to your computer for reference material;
