Hey guys, i'm currently an 8G owner and my wife and i saw a 96 galant with 43000 miles for $3200 across the street. the only catch is that it states that it has a 98 engine in it with 43000 miles. what do u think? wrecked? a lemon? the color is purple and is flawless from what i saw up close. the owner was not at home so i really investigated the car. no oil leaks whatsoever, rust or signs of a new paintjob. Let me know what you guys think. thanks

Jimmy

i would say test drive it and see, i mean maybe he did an engine swap for less miles or something...

the car's an auto and is very clean throughout. I've been a fan of the 7G for awhile, it's just that i haven't been successful in finding the color of my choice https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif this one is the dark burgandy purple color. It's not bad tho. i just wish the owner was at home for a test drive.

I would ask why the engine was swapped and what year ECU it has in it. I'm sure the 98 ECU is different than the 96. If the PO doesn't know I'd check the throttle body to get a rough idea. The 96 throttle body has three vacuum lines while the 98 has two, the 98 also has an Evaporative Emission Ventilation Solenoid in addition to the EVAP Purge Solenoid.
