i am finally done after 2 weeks. i will write up a tutorial to help those who might be interested. here's some pictures.

ASTIG, that is one of the best custom mods I've ever seen. Very professional. Kudos to you, man. We went to a show this weekend and saw an eclipse with projectors, and although his were well done, yours look much nicer. No one could ever tell that wasn't factory. Yeah, man...those light are sick as hell!!! Those lights look really top notch. Make sure when you write that tutorial, tell us all the parts you need and where is the best place to get them.

Astig, you are the man! Those look better than some manufactured projectors on the market. How much did parts cost you and how many hours did it take to complete them?

projectors cost me around $250 then about another $50 for other parts. I would say it took about 5 hrs of actual work for the 2nd headlight. alot of time was spent letting the epoxies cure. the 1st took longer because I wasn't quite sure what I was doing. most of the work is grinding and sanding the internal components of the headlight.

Those look really tight. But I was wondering. Can the Diamante projectors fit on the 8g? Maybe an older gen. Diamante? I can't really tell in the pics but do you have the hyper white headlights in it? And if you don't, can you put them in?

i don't think diamantes have projectors. i think they're just round reflectors. I used regular H9 bulbs (65W). I will be swithching to hid soon.

Ur right, they don't. They just use 2 round reflectors.

Hey Astig, I just thought of a way you could get paid for all your hard work and every one who wanted those lights (like myself) could get them. Wasn't there a company, I think D3Designs, was interested in making us some lights like yours? I'll bet they would pay you nicely for already coming up with a design that works and fits our platform. Then they could use your lights as a template and maybe manufactor them for us. Just a thought :idea:

It's a possibility, but they wouldn't do it for anywhere near the same price as this is going to cost you to make.

Ok, I'm having the hardets time finding H9 HID sets. I called SUV-Lights.com, and they said that the bulb is too new. No one has come out with anything for it. I would like to thank 96TEXASgalant for the autopartstreet.com site. I'm not gonna be without my headlights while doing this mod thanks to him. But I would really rather have HID if I'm converting. Projectors just don't look right with the yellow hue coming out of them.

tazz, get the euro-version of the low and high beam units. those come with H7 bulbs. The nice thing about it too is that the high beam comes with a built in city light. You can get the euro version hella 90mm projectors from www.puma-access.com. they cost a little more @ $69 vs $54 for the US version(from rallylights). you gotta call them, because they dont have them listed on the site.

I only learned of them(PUMA) after I got my US version projector units. I will be using the euro version, which I already have, for my montero. actually i got 3 sets of hella projectors; euro low beams, euro high beams, US low beams. I am thinking of a 3-projector setup for my montero. NASTY!

after some more fine tuning last night, its perfect. didn't get flashed so i guess its at the right level.
