Pulled 3 codes P0431, P0421, and P0401. Need to pass smog by the end of the month.

What up Homies. It's been a while seen I've posted on TGC. I'm still out here in the cut. The Galant is still riding. I'm about to hit 200,000 miles in about 3,000 miles. A/C isn't blowing cold air anymore, but that's not a issue with me.

I need some help. I ran a scan test on my car and have 3 codes.

1. P0431 Warm up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2
2. P0421 Warm up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1
3. P0401 Exhaust gas recirculation A Flow Insufficient Detected

I need to pass the smog test by the end of the month. I purchased 2 new 02 sensors and 2 spark plug anti-fouler. I have not installed yet.
To fix the p0421 code I was gonna try this.

I'm kind of stuck on fixing or getting around the other 2 codes. Any input or suggestions I would be grateful

P0431 is the same as 421, just on the other bank of the V6, so for both o2's the anti-fouler trick should work. the 401 code might need a new EGR valve or EGR solenoid, not 100% sure. Hope this helps some.

whats up ray! hope the sensors work out for ya, for me was told by the dealer to get the cat changed, which worked for me... im sure we can find some of the old contacts here if issues persist

What's up Krazi. How you been? The dealer should of Fixed my Cat years ago when they did that recall. To bad I didn't find out about till like a year later and I was over the warranty. I refuse to deal with the dealers cus they get you when it comes to fixing your car. I was able to resolve it. So I'm good with that. Till the wheels fall off!

Update. I was able to get help and clear the codes and pass my smog. Learned a few things I didn't know.

In order for your car to pass the smog test in CA and NV after resetting your codes your car can only have 1 pending readiness monitors if it's 2001 and above. My car had 7 out of the 8 Readiness monitors active.

I had help with the anti-fouler trick. I added fouler to all 4 of my 02 sensors. Then cleaned out the EGR. That cleared out all my codes.

My check engine has not been off in 4 or 5 years.

After doing all of that only 6 of my readiness monitor were active. It turned out that there was something wrong with 1 of my 02. Got a used one at the junk yard off a old car and had to spice the wires on the 02 sensor. Ran it on the highway and I was good to go.

Quick question. Is all still good with your 9g? I have the same 0421 0431 codes for the second time. was ur car running rich at all during that time?

A few days after we fixed the codes they came back. Not a big issue since my car is running great and my smog isn't due till Nov.
