I have created this thread to show progress on my latest project, and to send off an old friend.

Unfortunately back on October 21, 2013 I was on a short roadtrip to Greenville, SC to pick up a 3g steering wheel with a buddy of mine and I t-boned a Mini Cooper...

I picked up another shell for cheap, and for me it was easier to swap the newer motor into the shell with the least damage. No point in fixing my old girl :/

Now time to pull the good motor out of my car and get it ready to drop in the new car! This is the motor I swapped in when I broke the timing belt a year and a half ago.

What really gets me is that I JUST had the timing belt and water pump done a month before the accident. The water pump started leaking really bad at 30k. Needless to say go brand new not rebuilt!
Tranny was good, let me see what i can do. I may hold onto the drivetrain as a whole for back up... And some projects down the road...

what's the status of the G now? such as are you driving it or still getting it back together?
Haven't really done much in a couple weeks due to work and not having a free lift at the shop, hopefully I can update tomorrow evening with better news

If you have the time you can swap windows to keep your tint. And only pay for the rear to get done. Or if your good enough and bust a swap on that too.

Your heater core? Is there coolant in the floor? I wonder about mine sometimes cause the heat has a mapel scent once in a blue moon. But no signs off coolant on the floor. Good luck with yours, and nice job with the rebirth.

Got to play some more yesterday. Slowly working to get all the little stuff done. Got the rear speakers wired in. Just have to do the fronts, wire the system, swap clusters/S7s, etc etc. So much to do before Import Alliance!
And the interior is nasty... Luckily I have my Stratus front seats and my old ones.... What I get for a cheap car

I think it depends on the previous owner. Even though I got my car at a small dealer, the previous owner iirc was a single mom. And since I've bought the car back in 2011, I keep finding evidence of that. For example, under my ownership the only spills happen around the cupholders. From her ownership, I found the first time I took off the shifter trim what looked like dried soda or tea. Now today I had to pull the ashtray/lighter panel off to change the lighter bulb to a led type, and found more of that crap on the console. Then in front of where the shifter sits I found some dolphin shaped rubber thing, and the inside of a inkpen (the acutal ink part with the spring).
I respect single moms cause I know they have their hands full especially with younger kids, but if I can help it I'd like my next car's previous owners to only have had teenagers or adults in it and non smokers lol (few cig burns)

Thats What I found in mine after I got it.
My buddy got a civic from some chick that had domestic probs, court cases and whatnot.
There was a stack of Medi-Cal cards, free clinic cards, kids school IDs. Court orders and filings, and the worst was pictures of what was most likely her bruises, on her neck, arms, across her belly and thighs. Some F'd up shit, I told him to shred it all so she wouldn't get hit with any type of fraud.

Oh man there was stuff all under the seats and especially underneath the rear bench. And a rat's nest right near the passenger rear strut mount. It was baaaaaadddd.

Lol under the back seat was empty..mighta found a coin. But finding stuff around the seats would make way more sense than around the shifter under the console. Its almost like it was intentional, which if it was her kids doing..I know she had her handfuls. My last car was owned by girl who's dad was selling it for her while she was at college. I dunno if she took more pride in it cause it was a s14, but my only gripe was some glitter that got stuck in the carpet weave. Other than that, she would probably have surprised a lot of guys at how clean it was . Interior was pretty mint
Wired the radio and all four speakers in, as well as the S7 gauge cluster from the old G. Slow progress, but by the end of the week she should be on the road.

Need moar camber kit for the rear. I've got the ingalls kit on both G's and love it.
Yeah the camber is killing me. 2.5-3.3* is a little much. This is all temporary until I get another set of wheels, so stay tuned for that as well.
After the alignment, this car's handling improved greatly. I need to upgrade the sway bar and the brakes soon. I want back on the AutoX courses.

I was turning left out onto the highway out by my buddy's house and the median is too close to make a sweeping left. I cut it too close and hit with the driver's side and the tranny took the hit

I would focus more on that frame rail before considering a trans swap. Hopefully those fender gaps are screwed up from the bumper pulling on them, but something tells me that the bumper would rip off before tweaking the entire fender. From the way it seems the transmission hit on the median, I'm almost willing to bet the impact bent the frame rail as much as I hate to say it.

Look for anything warped where the rail drops down to the firewall. That is where the rally racers have found many unibodies to bend, which is why they reinforce them there.
The odd gaps don't look promising. I'm with M-Rod on this. It might be worth seeing what can be done on a frame machine, a minor tweak like that could be pulled. Also even if the frame rails turn out to be straight look at the subframe alignment. If its moved then alignments will be hell until its fixed.
The only other thing that could have moved the fender is the wheel hitting it, could have jammed itself into the fender and bent it.
Sucks to see dude, but hopefully you get it back on the road soon man.

I'm hoping a 5 speed trans will come up somewhere for the cheap... I just don't know where to begin on this one really. I want 5 speed BELIEVE ME! Lololol

The whole front is tweaked, so it's gotta be twisted somewhere. Maybe I get lucky and it's from the wheel hitting the fender, I doubt it with the suspension I have. How bad is subframe work? Any hints?
I'll look into reinforcing it as well, seeing as we have a shop and all. Or should I not mess with it?

Its a complete pre-face jdm. This car is known as Ivory. A longtime member here did the work. He had her for a long time until recently a taxi rear ended the car and his insurance totaled it. He was gonna let her go and part it out, but I always adored the car and offered him a fair sum for it, I took over and had the car professionally repaired and repainted.
My mods include 5 speed swap and 3G eclipse steering wheel.

They make a film sort of like vinyl to cover them with, I suspect thats what he did although I am not 100% sure. I love how they look on the Eclipse!
It's a bummer you hit a dear, the car looks like it handled it pretty well!

On ebay I put in chameleon tint and found it. I was actually looking into it a few weeks back after seeing a guy on youtube last month who had it on his jdm itr front teg. My worries were how it would look on silver and what color light ouput would be. I guess one question is answered now, one remaining. Looks good. I

It's the neochrome tint I guess you could call it. Pretty easy to do, this was my first time. Although I had a second set of hands. I got it from a buddy who had extra.
Jigz, the tires are worn on the outside from the tie rods being shot. Inside is still good. Getting new tires here shortly.

I have the same problem 2nd time this year on the passenger side it has broken I'm thinking about remove the rubber and let it be pure metal would that work by chassis I know a metal welder down here
